Lux Et Veritas Academy
I am thinking about going towards more RAW foods. Can you recommend a juicer? Do you make more green smoothies or juice? Any good recipes out there
Blueridge
Check out the Hallelujah Acres site...they are 'experts' on raw foods. They recommend 3 juicers...the Hurom, the Champion, and the Green Star (best). We've had a Champion for years, and it's a workhorse but doesn't do leafy greens well. We got a Hurom last year, and it's fun and easy, but not as durable since it has plastic parts. We're saving to get a Green Star next year because they will last a lifetime if cared for. SonshineLearner
My mom is loving her Professional Vitamix. She's making all kinds of funky smoothies and such... It's pretty cool!! If I had an extra $450. I'd have one, too!! (She had a coupon and it came with a recipe book)
mommyoftwinboys
I just have a Juiceman. I know there are different kinds-centrifugal vs...I don't even know...but we like ours. I usually make carrot/apple juice and sometimes throw a cucumber in there..it's good!

Peela
I love my Oscar http://www.oscar-living-juicer.com/compare-juicers/ The pulp comes out almost dry- the driest of any juicer on the market. It does greens beautifully, as well as wheatgrass. It takes longer to juice than in a centrifugal juicer, but its much more thorough. However you don't really need a juicer to go raw- I go in phases with mine. A year ago I was making green juices every morning- for everyone- it was a lot of work but I did feel very healthy. I now make a juice once a week or so but with summer here now I may get into another phase of it. I am also getting more into raw again after going back to more cooked over winter. I love it. I tend to do well with some meat, but lots of salad and fruit and just a little dairy and grains. I am probably on about 50% raw at the moment. here are a few bookmarks I have for inspiration and recipes: http://thesunnyrawkitchen.blogspot.com/ http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=54452 http://www.therawdivas.com/HHH/recipes.html http://www.rawmom.com/ http://www.therawkitchen.com.au/Site/Welcome_HOME.html
Renthead Mommy
I love my juicer and making juice, but i end up making green smooothies more often because they are just so much quicker, and the blender is so much easier to clean up than the juicer. I LOVE my Kitchen Aid blender. I'll put all my greens in it with water and pear, hit "crush ice" a few times to get it going and put it onto liquify and it comes out great. Plus I can prep a couple of days worth of greens at one time so I'm just pulling them from teh fridge and into the blender. Much faster than all the prep for juicing. When I do juice it's usually 3 carrots, 1 orange and maybe some pineapple if we have some. Often I'll make a second one for later and store it in a glass jar in the fridge. That's usually 1 carrot or beet, celery, cucumber, the ribs or stems that I've removed from my spinach, kale or chard (before making them into smoothies) and whatever else I've got. I've just got a regular juicer (don't remember what brand, I had to order online while we were overseas). But it does take a lot longer both for prep and clean up than it does for just the blender.
