What are your favorite Dick King-Smith books?

The Sophie books. Do get the UK versions though, as the American versions were clumsily americanized (e.g. Sophie goes to "kindergarten" *shudder* and it gets worse). All six books of the original books are available in two volumes:

The Nine Lives of Aristotle was a big hit here, as was The Sheep Pig (aka Babe). I've linked to the UK edition of The Sheep Pig, but I have no idea whether the US edition was butchered in the manner of the Sophie books.

My daughter loved "The School Mouse", except that it was sad when most of the mice were poisoned and died.

 

Oh that's not good. DD is extremely sensitive to dying animals. :001_huh:

I actually think I took this advice from you already! I should have mentioned that we have and love the Sophie books. :)
