Cera
Should I buy a 1lb loaf machine or a 2 lb loaf machine? We want to be able to make bread for sandwiches and toast. Thanks!
Parrothead
It depends on how much bread you eat. A bread machine wouldn't keep up with us so I bought a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and started making two loaves at a time. Eventually the motor on the KA just about burned out. I now have a Electrolux Assistant that will do the mixing and kneading and rising in the same bowl. I then punch down and place in loaf pans for a second rise then bake manually. I can get six loaves at a time this way.
plain jane
Mine has the option to do either and I find I always use the 2lb option.
JoyfulMama
I made a 1lb loaf for lunch. It provided bread for sandwiches for 7 people. No crumbs left over.
Cera
I usually make bread by hand (I actually love to mix and knead). The machine would be for dh who wants warm bread in the morning and what he wants/when he wants it (rather than the current what I make/when I make it schedule). It sounds like 2lb is the way to go...which brand do I want (I was thinking zojirushi)?

My kids eat a 2lb loaf on their own, never mind thinking about feeding mom and dad too. :001_huh:
