Sparrows-Song
If my rising 10th grader wanted to do a semester of Sociology, then a semester of Psychology, what would you call that class? I'm considering this, instead of an entire year of both... he is just wanting to get his feet wet in this. Thanks! PS~ we would be using Homeschool Psych, and not sure about which Sociology text yet. mcconnellboys
I agree, or call the entire year intro to the social sciences.....
Excelsior! Academy
I did that in public school. I think it was just listed as Psychology/Sociology on my transcript.
Pamela H in Texas
I would just list each for a half credit. Alternative would be to put "Social Science."
regentrude
half credit for each Psychology and Sociology. I would not like to call it Social Sciences because this term is often used for a mixture of history/geography/anything not natural science and may not give a clear picture of what the content of the class actually was. NineChoirs
I self studied this subject when I was in tenth grade. I picked up an old college textbook at a used book store and worked my way through it. I loved it! I think it is a great age to learn about the subject. It is still, to this day, one of my favorite subjects ever studied.
AHASRADA
I studied both in PS highschool, and each course was one semester, half a credit. No reason why you can't do the same. ;)
LunaLee
Dd is taking psychology this semester and it's just called "Psychology" worth 5 credits (.5 if you use the other system).
AngieW in Texas
That's exactly what I did in high school. Both psychology and sociology were offered as one semester courses only. If you decide to do philosophy of mind instead of sociology, my dd greatly enjoyed Teaching Company's Philosophy of Mind course.
