We're going into our 2nd year using Write Shop, and I've been really impressed with it. I love how it gives you check lists to edit and grade with. What would you suggest using after this? My students are 10th and 8th grade. One loves writing; the other hates it, of course.

Mine is registered for Section 2. The first was full already.

My son is taking it as an online class too, at Landry Academy. Is that where your son will be?

I signed ds up for an online class at Landry Academy (homeschool Science Academy.com) It was one of the less expensive ones I could find ($608 per 2-semester subject) and looks really good. I'll have to buy one textbook to use at home, and the teaching, test taking, grading, etc is all done online.

Have any of you had your students complete Algebra 2 before starting Geometry? If so, was it successful? We're using Chalk Dust for math, and I don't see any obvious downfalls, but thought I'd ask. Science scopes/sequences seem to favor Algebra 2 either before or alongside Biology.

We have tried SOS and dh and I both are having technical difficulties with it. Dh wants me to find a new science curriculum, and I need one that I personally don't have to teach. (I stink at science!) What would you suggest? I would prefer Christian based. Thanks! ETA: I wish ChalkDust did science!

I saw this at Christian Book and thought it looked good. Anyone used it? If my rising 10th grader wanted to do a semester of Sociology, then a semester of Psychology, what would you call that class? I'm considering this, instead of an entire year of both... he is just wanting to get his feet wet in this. Thanks! PS~ we would be using Homeschool Psych, and not sure about which Sociology text yet.

So if Language Arts consists of grammar, literature, composition, vocabulary, and spelling, how much does the average 9th and 7th grader do of each of these daily/ yearly? Right now I teach an equal amount of time in grammar, lit, and composition, and it takes up a tremendous amount of time. It feels as if Language Arts is 3 separate subjects requiring 3 times the amount of work, for only one credit. I'm wondering if it would be "ok" to focus on grammar part of the year, literature part of the year, and composition part of the year, (and add in vocabulary and spelling here and there?) We use Rod and Staff for grammar, Write Shop for composition, and Lightning Lit for literature (only literature.) How do you do this?
