Tangerine
In attempting to construct a Rapunzel costume, I need to get my paws on a girls long white nightgown. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to get one. Is it something you can find in department stores? I've looked at some dept store websites with no luck. I'd like to be able to just go out and buy one, rather than looking online, but if that's my only choice, I'll order one. Anyone have girls who wear old-fashioned type nightgowns? helena
If you find them let me know! We've randomly found them at yard sales, and my daughters love them. I remember one of them was Laura Ashley. They wore it till it fell apart.

Punchie
OshKosh has (or had) long white nightgowns that have silver stars on it. I saw them on clearance sev wks ago. If there's one near you, it might be worth checking out.
plansrme
http://www.aprilcornell.com/category/big-girl-dresses Girls' nightgowns cannot, due to rules regarding flame resistant fabric, be both made of cotton and billowy. This is why you do not want a "nightgown." What you want is a "petticoat." Or a cotton slip. If a girl just happens to sleep in it, well, the manufacturer is not responsible for the off-label use. celticmom
If there is a local Society for Creative Anachronism group you could ask if they have a girl's chemise that you could borrow.
dangermom
Do you have a sewing friend who wants to make a little cash? I'd do that. The fabric costs almost nothing, so it wouldn't be that expensive.

plansrme
I can personally vouch for the April Cornell petticoat-as-a-nightgown. My now 13 year old wore this exact item when she was 4 or 5. It was beautiful and lasted through both her and her little sister. I miss it. Sniff sniff. Terri
