MyLittleWonders
Definitely Magic School Bus books. We also liked How Do You Lift a Lion and What's Smaller Than a Pigmy Shrew, both by Robert E. Wells. Starry Messenger was also a big hit, as well as How Ben Franklin Stole the Lightning.
Lori D.
Our very favorite for young elementary ages was the Let's Read and Find Out About Science series: Level 1 and Level 2 We also enjoyed the Magic School Bus series, plus books by Gail Gibbons; Seymour Simon; Aliki; Charlotte Zolotow; and the book One Day in the Desert (Jean Craighead George). ETA: We also really enjoyed various of the "stepped" reader science books (pictures every page and small amount of factual text, geared for gr. 1-4 as readers. Heidi @ Mt Hope
Absolutely HIGHLY recommend The Berenstain Bear's Big Book of Science and Nature (available through Sonlight) and Greg's Microscope, An I Can Read Book Level 3. In the Let's Read and Find Out Science Series, we have Archaeologists Dig For Clues and Let's Go Rock Collecting. At Home with Science, Dig and Sow: How do Plants Grow? (from Kingfisher with experiments to try in the garden) Gregor Mendel: The Friar Who Grew Peas is a beautiful picture book.
Food4Thought
I second the recommendations for the Robert E. Wells books - What's Bigger Than a Blue Whale? & What's Smaller Than a Pygmy Shrew? are my kids' favorites. Usborne's How Flowers Grow is a favorite here too. Richard Scarry's What Do People Do All Day? has a few great chapters on science-related things, specifically growing corn and making paper from trees. My son loves it. Tomie DePaola's Cloud Book and Popcorn Book. Love these.
Food4Thought
I thought of another set. Someone gave me several readers that we really enjoy from Creative Teaching Press. Both kids will read these over and over, and the pictures are really nice. Here's the name of the series - I don't know how many are in each. We have 6-8 books from each series.
