HollyDay
I need some book ideas for summer reading for my soon to be 14 year old dd. She has read all of the Margarite Henry series. She is a tough one to find books for. She does not like science fiction/fantasy books. She has enjoyed Pride and Prejudice. She likes adventure books, spy novels, mysteries. Suggestions?? Kareni
The first book that came to mind is The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy. It might appeal to your daughter because of the historical setting, and it also has the added components of a mystery, spying, and adventure. My teen so loved reading this book in 9th grade that she went on to read another six books by this author that also dealt with the Pimpernel. Regards, Kareni

Swallows and Amazons The Saturdays and the sequels. The Westing Game Anne of Green Gables series Tom Sawyer Mysterious Benedict Society and its two sequels (these are reality-based mysteries that have an element of science fiction, but not true science fiction, if that makes any sense!) Short stories of Edgar Allan Poe (just a few--most involve murder or mayhem!) IDK if Cranford would be a good book for her or not, but it's very Pride and P.
