Omnibus I (history, literature, theology) NEM 1 (finish), Keys to Algebra (4-?), start Gelfand's Algebra for fun? Rainbow Science, year 2 Wheelock's Latin (ch 21-40) Traditional Logic I Vocabulary from Classical Roots A Elements of Style (read, outline, etc.) followed by The Roar on the Other Side (poetry) God and the History of Art (1X per week) Anything missing or just plain dumb? Beth in Central TX Posted March 29, 2008 Share Posted March 29, 2008 I have a similar plan for my 7th grader next August: 7th grader: Omnibus I (covers history, literature, & Bible) R&S Math 8 Wheelock's IA (Ch1-10)vw/ Lingua Latina New Testament Greek for Beginners CW Homer B & Beg Poetry B R&S Grammar 7 R&S Spelling 7 R&S Artpac 7 We do PE as a family 3 times a week and participate in choir and Awana at church. I've purposely not planned science and logic in junior high. My son will read science books, but we won't take a formal approach to both subjects until 9th grade. Here's what I've got so far: CW Diogenes, Harvey's Grammar, spelling bee prep Lit - possibly Lightning Lit early British, TTC plus worldview supplement Math - NEM 2, we'll dip into Gelfand's and Kiselev's History - I'm pulling together a TOG style plan while we study the world from 1600-1850 with a Canadian slant Logic - haven't decided Bible - haven't decided Latin - Henle high school year 2 with Memoria Press online French - The Easy French 2A Italian - weekly 2 hour lessons with the Canadian Itaian club Music - piano, composer study PE - taekwon-do, triathlon training, possibly homeschool gym class Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I haven’t made my final decision but I think this is probably what I will go with. Language: Vocabulary from the Classical Roots A and B Voyages in English 7 (using the grammar portion only) Writing Strands 5 Outlining practice History: History Odyssey: finish Medieval/start Renaissance to Early modern (we just switched to this, doing our own plan wasn't working) Primary Sources using “Jackdaw†packs Prepare one composition per week Science: Chemistry-not sure what all I'm doing here-ideas? Lit - Lightning Lit Shakespeare's comedies; her own choices using Sparrow Tree Square Science - How Things Work by Neil Ardley and How Science Works by J. Hann plus kits and popular science books. Maths - NEM2 and perhaps some more Key To books Latin - LP2 and LP3 French - SYRWTL 2 and the next book following British IGCSE (recommendations ?) plus French literature. Writing and Grammar - SYRWTL 3 and perhaps Rod and Staff 5 Logic - 'Logic problems' puzzle books, WTM recommendations Philosophy and Art - further reading using Edward Lucie Smith as a spine; Philosophy for Kids; original sources and the BBC's 'In Our Time' podcasts. Others Swimming twice a week; start back with horse riding; field trips in England and Scotland to historic sites; wants to try fencing. Science: finish 10 weeks of earth/using how earth works and apologia reading/do chemistry using chem set as spine? (not sure yet) Latin: Latina Christiana 2 Spanish: (with sister) Espanol para chicos y grandes level 1. Logic: Maybe logic online or using critical thinking book 1 Addt: Reading, Piano lessons, soccer, basketball, chess club...if we find one, maybe another church play? This is for my 7th grade daughter. It is my second year homeschooling her. I still feel a bit green and trying to stay open to ideas. Plus living in a rural area with not a lot of options but some nice support from homeschool group. I've homeschooled my 4th grade girl since first grade.
