Marsha, I would put your 7th grader in Green, it has great diagramming exercises in it. ;) I wouldn't want to miss that one, KWIM? It also does a unit on a research paper. :D As far as your 3rd and 4th graders, that's more of a personal call, I think, I'm going to use them on level for my kids (dd9 - orange and ds7 - red). But definitely consider Green for your 7th grader.

We are 'jumping' into LLATL as well and yes it is do-able. I am putting my 13 and 11 (almost 12) year olds into GREEN book because of the great diagramming in it. :001_smile: My 9 yr is jumping into Orange, and my 7 into Red. It's wonderful! However, I will be adding a bit more literature for them.

My kids are: 13, 11 (almost 12 - 13 months younger than older sis), 9, 7, and 4. I combine all kids for: Bible, History, Science I combine the 2 oldest for: Math, Language Arts I am also, believe it or not, able to combine my 9 and 7 in most math. He is quite advanced, while she is behind in this subject. For now, it works! :001_smile:

I'll be using it with my 4 year old this fall. He will be 4.7 to be exact, and we'll take our time through the first part of the book with initial phonics, utilizing the phonic cards, playing games, etc. ;) I think it is more of a K level then 1st for most children, as it assumes no prior phonics experiences; truly a *beginning* program.

My 4 year old gets read to, alot! From quality children's literature, and he also sits in on many of the books I read to ds6 for school. He spends a lot of time outdoors. He does alot of artsy type stuff: cutting, glueing, coloring. I also play games with him a few times a week: memory, candy land, etc...he learned counting, colors, shapes and all the letter sounds simply through osmosis of reading, playing, and talking to him. :001_smile:
