MariannNOVA
Looks like the tsunami warning has been dropped, thank goodness. Yes, just heard that the tsunami warning has been dropped and the e/q was a 7.0 which apparently is somewhat less than a 7.3 (according to the individual who was speaking). B/c of where the e/q took place (i.e., ocean depth) a tsunami would have occured soon after the quake was felt and it is an excellent sign that none occured in that relatively quick timeframe - thank heavens
Renthead Mommy
It was 50 miles off Okinawa. I just talked to two of my friends. It woke her 'unwake-able" kids up. Surprisingly nothing was broken at her house, but she's on base in a cinderblock 4 house unit only two stories high. Another friend who is still there, but lives off base, right on the seawall said stuff was flying off her shelves. But she lives on the 3rd or 4th floor, so that may make a difference in how the building slides around. But she did say after it people grabbed their kids out of bed and headed to the base because it's higher ground in case a tsunami. Apparently not much happened, at least on base, because my bf was on her way out to pee-wee football game.
