SonshineLearner
I'm thinking of how I could replicate a "Core Knowledge" 2nd grade for my son next year. Anyone do it?? Just thinking still... Thanks!!
originalkat
I have considered this many times. I have thought about getting the Teacher Handbook (I think it is around $75) and includes background info on all subjects. However, it seems like a lot of work to put everything together. I am also interested to know if anyone has tried this.

susankenny
Hi, Here is a scope & sequence that follows CK (scroll to grade 2 & it's broken up by month). You could use it as a spine, or you could use the lessons that go along with this particular S&S. http://www.cstone.net/~bcp/TOC.htm Here are the corresponding lessons: http://www.cstone.net/~bcp/BCPIntro2.htm Just scroll to grade 2. I hope this helps you! Susan
mama25angels
Get the book, What your 2nd grader needs to know and use it as a spine. That's what i'm doing for my 2nd grader next year and just adding in library books, videos and finding some science experiments for him to do. Love2teach0307
Just a testimonial - I have loved using the core knowledge lessons plans for K, 1st and 2nd grade. I bought the book what your ____ needs to know to give me an idea of what to cover, but I've cover subjects as they interest us. All the pdf files for the lessons plans also include neat activities as they are designed to meet the needs of all visual, auditory and tactile learners. The newer lessons also include good websites as links for extensions. I don't use these solely as our core curriculum, but it adds a nice hands-on enrichment to supplement what I want to cover. I highly recommend the lessons plans especially if you like to "tweak" your lessons to make them more interactive.
