TravelingChris
I am planning on having both my girls do World History next year. THat means I will have a 12 grader who will use the text as a supplement and a ninth grader who will use the text as the primary. My 12 grader is very auditory and gets much more out of lectures so she will primarily use TT lectures on various periods and areas while her younger sister will use the lectures occasionally as supplements since she wants textbook learning. I am confused about what I would want to order.
Jane in NC
Chris, Older editions of Spielvogel are very inexpensive. You might even find both the high school and college texts for a song from the same dealer, combining postage. That way your students could see which text they prefer. My son used the Western Civ college text from 9th grade on. Jane
TravelingChris
Thanks Jane for the suggestion but can you tell me which name is the high school version and which is the college?
kiana
Western Civ is the college one, Human Odyssey is the high school one.

MamaT
Christiana - I also use the Western Civ. text from 9th grade to 12th. I just wanted to let you know of a great site to use with the text: http://www.wadsworth.com/cgi-wadsworth/course_products_wp.pl?fid=M20b&product_isbn_issn=0534646026&discipline_number=21 Sorry, I don't know how to rename links. :001_smile:
Myra
Wow - that's a great site. But I am using Human Odyssey this year...anyone know of a similar site? Thanks, Myra
Ruth in Canada
It's a university-level book, but we are using it as a spine over the course of 4 years. I wanted to cover world history, not western history.
Nan in Mass
My son tried both. He did Kingfisher in middle school and said that HO didn't have enough new material to be worth reading for high school, so we switched to WC. He said that was much more interesting and definately worth reading. -Nan
