Emilylou
Hive- I hope this works... :) DD has been in bed coughing for 45 minutes. I have tried cough medicine but it doesn't seem to be working. I have read about the vicks rub on the bottom of feet to help with coughing. Praying it works- DD needs to get some sleep. We were all up last night due to her coughing. :(
TN Mama
:grouphug: I hope it works and that your daughter is able to rest. I have a friend who said this worked well for her young son last winter.
ProudGrandma
let us know...if this works, it would be good to know.
ChristusG
Ugh, coughing is tough. DD5 sleeps in our room and had a cough a few months ago. I thought that no one was going to get any sleep. I'll have to remember the Vicks on the feet thing....never tried it before.
TheCoffeeChick
It does work - I've used it on myself! :)
Caitilin
Weirdly, it DOES seem to work--it makes NO sense, but everyone I know who's tried it says it does. :p
Emilylou
Does it work instantly? She hasn't coughed since I out it on her feet.... poor thing has been coughing for 2 days.
3byzaz
It has always worked for me. It didn't last night, though, for my 10 yo ds. I don't think I put enough on, though!!
zantoc
It does work but you have to put enough on.
jenL
It always works for us, and we smear it on in a nice thick layer and cover the feet with cozy, thick socks. Hope your daughter feels better soon!
DawnL
That's what I always do with my youngest. Put a thick coat on the bottom of his feet, then add socks. It works great!
3byzaz
I majorly gooped it on there tonight for my little man!!! Haven't heard a peep out of him. Yea!!!
EthiopianFood
I've always been confused why people don't just put it on their chest.
Dirtroad
We do chest, throat, behind the ears, and on the feet. Any itchy throat, ear issues, or cough developing... out comes the jar! Swear by it.
3littlekeets
Heck, I use it just to soften my feet when I'm NOT coughing :D. It's a great foot softener!
Devotional Soul
A natural petroleum-free alternative to Vic's Rub is EUCALYPTUS OIL. Put a few drops on their feet, on their chest or back, just not too close to the eyes, add a carrier oil if needed. Eucalyptus oil is good to inhale with steam for a cough. Add it to the bath and close all the windows and doors, add it to boiling water and inhale. Oregano oil has been very successful for me. I add a drop in a tspn of coconut or olive oil and put it on the feet. It has brought down a fever quickly.
Jeanne in MN
If my kids have colds that include coughing fits, we are sure to put Vick's on their feet, then socks. Also put it on their chest. It's a must.
mom2abcd
Unker's works well, too, for many conditions. Put it on your feet. It is also petroleum-based, though. http://www.unkerssalve.com/ If you rub garlic on the bottom of your feet, the smell quickly spreads throughout your body. I don't know if this helps with coughs, etc., but it does keep the mosquitoes away. Maybe people, too! LOL
orangearrow
My son gets terrible coughs this time of year due to his allergies. The Vick's thing works for him. It's always the LAST thing I try and I always feel ridiculous for slathering it on his feet - but it ALWAYS has worked & helped him get a good night's rest. It's just the strangest thing!
