caitlinsmom
I am working on my list for next year (does the planning ever end!!??) and want a few suggestions for reading. I have the Sonlight book list but honestly most of the books I have purchased in the past from their list have been the biggest flops here! What do you recommend? Read alouds, history, science, etc., I am looking for ideas in every area.
kls126s
Are you looking for read alouds, or independent readers? At what level is your child reading?
caitlinsmom
Looking for ideas in every subject/type. She reads at a first grade level right now close to 2nd grade. Our read aloud shelf needs some new stuff, so really anything works.
Susie in CA
For read-alouds we have had great luck with recommendations from Jim Trealese's book "The Read Aloud Handbook". Maybe you can get it at the library. Susie
kwg
ds is in 2nd grade now so I am interested to hear what others say. What things has she liked so far? My ds loves funny- so big hits here have been Mrs. Piggle Wiggle, Pippi,Gooney Bird Greene, Ronald Dahl books....he has also liked All of a Kind of Family and loves Child's History of the World. That one he asks for all the time.
choirfarm
If you are talking readalouds, a lot of things would work. I've read my second grade daughter The Little Princess, The Secret Garden and Charlotte's Web this year. Christine
