shalom22
I got to watch the first 25 minutes before I had to leave the house. It was a very strong speech. He didn't pull any punches regarding the holocaust.

mcconnellboys
Yes, good for him, and shame on those who didn't show, walked out, etc. after they sat through the ravings that came prior to his speech....
kewb
It was a very moving speech. I watched it with my children. My ds does not understand how anyone can say the Holocaust did not happen when it is so obvious that it did.

Yes, and "ravings" is putting it mildly!
Mrs Mungo
I loved his speech. Did you guys see Qhadaffi's? Wow, he's cuckoo for cocoa puffs, that one.
Nicole M
Yes, good for him, and shame on those who didn't show, walked out, etc. after they sat through the ravings that came prior to his speech.... You know what? If I were living under the same conditions as the Palestinians in Israel, I would be raving, too. Did the US Ambassador from Syria speak? I heard him on NPR, and he told the other side of the story with grace, humility, kindness and truth.
kalanamak
An Israeli at work said "too bad his leadership wasn't as impressive".
hornblower
Israel needs to come clean on its nuclear capability, join the NPT and put its program under IAEA inspection. BTW - My grandfather died in a Nazi concentration camp. I mark Yom HaShoah. I've visited concentration camps. It was a horrible, terrible thing. Wingnuts like Ahmadinejad ARE just that - wingnuts. When they threaten borders of other states, that is a big issue & it should be dealt with appropriately, esp if they really do have nuclear capability. But - Israel needs to move on & participate by the rules of the international community. There are moments when any criticism of Israeli policy is instantly dismissed as anti-semitism or holocaust denial. And that is ridiculous. We are now finally seeing brave Jewish voices speaking out against some Israeli policies. See for instance: http://www.jewsforajustpeace.com/ & http://ijvcanada.org/israel/criticizing-israel-is-not-an-act-of-bigotry/ Jimmy Carter wrote: "Peace will come to Israel and the Middle East only when the Israeli government is willing to comply with international law, with the Roadmap for Peace, with official American policy, with the wishes of a majority of its own citizens—and honor its own previous commitments— by accepting its legal borders. All Arab neighbors must pledge to honor Israel's right to live in peace under these conditions. The United States is squandering international prestige and goodwill and intensifying global anti-American terrorism by unofficially condoning or abetting the Israeli confiscation and colonization of Palestinian territories. It will be a tragedy—for the Israelis, the Palestinians, and the world—if peace is rejected and a system of oppression, apartheid, and sustained violence is permitted to prevail." http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=6543594 I think Jimmy Carter's work in the Middle East has been incredible, btw.
