:iagree:We used FIAR for three years and I loved the FIAR forum as well as homeschoolshare. Occasionally I used Enchanted Learning. With all three resources and my FIAR volume, I was set with many ideas for my daughter. I did purchase one digital download from FIAR. It was nice, but homeschoolshare is just as good.

Enjoy! We loved Madaline and still do.

I second joining the FIAR forums...awesome bunch of ladies there. Great ideas, wonderful support. And homeschoolshare has a wealth of great ideas for each book. Just don't get bogged down with all the "extras" b/c the manual has a lot to do already, kwim? You'll find yourself getting burned out before you even start. Start simple and then build up. Choose the activities from the manual you really find interesting and go from there. Happy rowing...we are starting with Mike Mulligan b/c ds loves that book!

There's also a new FIAR-Friendship Yahoo group (I hate Yahoo groups, much prefer forums though).

I just updated my blog to show our FIAR rowings. Here's Madeline:

I spend hours surfing/googling blogs/sites to get creative ideas, and try to come up with my own now. I find all the best FIAR blogs and get some great ideas!

Ditto the FIAR forums, but there is also homeschoolshare for free FIAR lapbook stuff:

This site is also awesome to get ideas:

Have fun!

We just did Madeline this week. I rowed it to see if dd would like the program.

Lots of culture studies!!! We learned lots about France and where it is. Another fun thing we are doing is coloring maps of all the countries in the books we read this year (liked Madeline so much that we will keep rowing). ;)

DD also learned to say hello in french.

But, I totally agree with the pp in that the FIAR forums are a wonderful place. There're even archived sections of activities for each book.

Homeschool share is fantastic as well.

Good luck and don't stress the manual and book do wonders.
