lionfamily1999
Am I the only one that catches themselves using dc, ds, dd, dh in real life? I didn't realize how often it slips out until today. My friend called and asked if DH thought it would be alright for us to go camping. We talked for a few minutes and then she asked, where did the nickname DH come from... :001_huh: I said it wasn't his nickname, it's an acronym for 'dear husband' from a forum I use, how in the world had she heard of it??? I have, apparently, been calling my dh 'DH' often enough that she thought it was his new nickname... I think I'm on here too often. gardening momma
That's funny...I haven't done that yet! When I read something to dh from these forums, I substitute other words for dh, dc, dd, ds, etc..so he understands what I'm reading.
jujsky
I don't think I've said the acronyms out loud, but I've caught myself thinking them!
Pip
I don't think I've said the acronyms out loud, but I've caught myself thinking them! BTDT, but I'm getting closer to verbalizing all the time.
elegantlion
I think I did it the other night when I was out with friends. They're online forum frequenters as well so it probably didn't faze them.
HeatherLynn
I do it in real life speak as well as texting. People text me back, "What is DD, DS, DH, etc." LOL
dragonria
I can't really stand 'text speak'; so when posting here or in other forum, I actually write out the whole word...husband...son...etc....
LaxMom
I can't really stand 'text speak'; so when posting here or in other forum, I actually write out the whole word...husband...son...etc.... Me, too. And it suddenly occurs to me that this may have saved me from having to answer to "D.W." (think Arthur's surly little sister) in retaliation. :D
lionfamily1999
He knows what it stands for and just finds it hilarious that my friend would call him 'dear husband.'
