Has anyone used K12 for foreign language?

Recommended Posts

DS, entering 9th grade, is interested in studying German. Other than Rosetta Stone, are there other options for studying German? K12 looks good, but I'm pretty clueless, so any and all opinions are welcome :)

I know I read of someone doing it distance learning where the professor called once a week, think it was a college in Oklahoma??? Hope someone who knows more details. I am very new to this and don't know how to search for it. If you don't get any more replies, repost with German in the subject line.

thanks for the thought of adding German in the subject line. Gotta love advanced edit option :)

Distant learning....something I hadn't thought of! Might have to go and google that one.

I'm looking for German, too. I looked that online option and it's quite a bit more than we can afford right now.

I didn't realize K12 offered German! I will check that out.

DD has used K12 Spanish II for the last year, they use Powerglide, actually I think they bought it out.

DD likes it, it has a daily schedule and weekly quizzes, the teacher grades the oral or written.

I dont think it is as comprehensive as Apexlearning.com. I think they have German and cost the same as K12. I forget what program they use.

I was going to also say that they use PowerGlide. I don't like that program. It is possible a strong student could get enough from it. Many students would simply go through and get very little from it, I would guess.

DS did Spanish I with k12 last year. He knows NOTHING compared to his sister do did BJU. He will start SPanish I, from the beginning, in the fall, with another program.

I don't know anything about German.

Yes, it's Oklahoma State University's program called German Online; I've seen only good feedback for it (well, except for the cost!).

Here's a thread that mentions some other possibilities.

Kareni
