Thanks, everyone.
Rice/taco/burrito bowls sound good and fairly easy, as do baked potatoes with toppings and veggies.
Each kid has his own quirks, in addition to the one with food allergies. Trying to get something on the table fast that everyone will eat when some/all of them don't like sandwiches/sauces/casseroles can be frustrating!

Will they eat soups?

No, sadly.

I need a couple of quick, easy meal ideas for nights when basketball ends at 5:45pm (we usually eat dinner at 5pm) and everyone is ravenous. My mother will be in the house watching a few of the boys, but I don't want to ask her to cook. I can, however, leave the stove on while she's here and I'm out. I don't have a slow-cooker or an instapot.
FWIW, I have one who can't eat eggs, chicken, or nuts and another who won't eat things that are already 'sauced' or combined. Deconstructed, choose-and-assemble-your-own meals are a necessity.

We have settled into using BA as my 3rd grader's main curriculum and the Singapore Extra Practice workbook as review/extra practice.
We started out using only Singapore Math, and then he was going back and forth between the two, and now we are here. It's working for now.

I'm currently sitting in my living room nursing my youngest, everyone else is asleep. I can *hear* a mouse behind me in the room. I guess the poison traps I put out last week didn't work.
I hate mice. Damnit.

July 2008 for me ;-) (4 healthy boys and 3 miscarriages)My baby (21 months) just stopped nursing thanks to a bad cold. I'm glad it happened "naturally".
Oh, and, I had been nursing or pregnant since Sept 2008. So there. ;)
26 months nursing is 2 months past my longest. It's okay to be sad! It's a big change.
And hooray for sleep!
I am both dreading and yearning for the time when this last baby weans (he's 14 months). The last three boys all weaned between 25 and 29 months... I'll be 44 this spring.
OP, I hope the good things keep coming for you!

I just learned to knit this fall, and I cast on a cardigan for myself this afternoon. I have a spring/fall sweater in mind for after the cardigan is finished, but first a pair of mittens with a hummingbird motif for my mother's birthday in February. I'm praying that my brother and his wife finally get pregnant this year, so I have a list of baby knitting I'm hoping to do this summer.
I'll be moving the youngest and his crib out of my room in a few months and would like to set up my sewing machine and serger in a corner of my bedroom. I have totes full of fabric and plenty of plans for clothing for myself and my boys.

And since I'm the only one who actually thinks about stocking stuffers my stocking is always empty. :crying:
After two years of empty stockings, I pointed out to my husband that it was empty (again) and told him that I expected him to take responsibility for filling my stocking. He just didn't realize that it was important to me. Now, he stuffs it full of candy and office supplies. ::thumbs up::

Toothbrush (with either toothpaste or flossers), some type of candy, pencils (or pens or markers or crayons, depending on age), a little bagged Lego set, plus some other tiny trinkets. My husband will fill my stocking with sticky-notes, sticky-tabs, and pens/pencils each year, plus candy.
My father always gave us scratch tickets!

I have 3 boys with Kindles, ages 8, 5, and 3. I have a password on the tablets, and I set them up with their audiobooks playing and then press the button to lock the screen and send them off to quiet time. It can be a pain, but it works for us so far.

My 8yr old third grader's schedule today:
8-9am: (independent) spelling, cursive, and then literature reading (30 min)
9-10am: table time (with me and my K & pre-K boys) prayers, bible, poetry, WiseOwl Polysyllables practice, misc memory, Shakespeare, and family read aloud.
10-10:30am : break
10:30-11:30am: (starts with me, then on his own) math (usually 20-40 minutes if Singapore Math, 45+ for Beast Academy)
Lunch & outside time
1-2pm: (with me) Latin, grammar (FLL3), and history (SOTW3 and related history/lit books) [MWF is history, TR is science]
2-3:30ish: quiet time (usually audiobooks along with something to keep his hands occupied and him out of trouble)

I use a pat-in-the-pan flour/salt/butter/cream crust that I mix in my food processor for quiche and shepherd's pie. My husband and oldest son both prefer it to other pie crusts. It came out of the Joy of Cooking.

That audiobook is priced at $37.06 for me.
::harrumph:: I don't like that at all. Sorry.

Are you a member and are you logged in?I'm only seeing the regular prices. Which ones did you find for $3.47?
If I was looking at a list of titles, they showed regular price. If I clicked on one title to read the full description, the sale price showed up on a 'buy it now' button.

I was looking at a couple of history of science courses on Audible, listed regularly for $30+. When I clicked on one to read the description, it was available to buy for only $3.47! I snatched up a few science titles, and am looking to see if there is anything else I want that is so cheap.
Just thought that I would share.

Scroll down to the FAQ and find the question about medication-controlled diabetes.
Thank you very much for the link!

I'm so mad I'm shaking...
DS finally got hold of a person to talk to. His SSN didn't work because they rescinded his job offer because he doesn't meet the medical requirements. He noted on the medical form that he's epileptic (controlled with medication) and they are saying that he can't do the job. The job that requires SITTING AT A BENCH ALL DAY. I'm just furious.
-
Can he PHYSICALLY go to the office that has the issue and talk with them in person? Since it really is THEIR system that seems to be the problem. Has he called the SS office to confirm his SSN hasn't been compromised in some way?
And hugs.
If no one answers the phone, he will have to drive down there to fix this today.

Is it possible he is remembering the number wrong or transposing two numbers when he types? Maybe someone else is using his number?
I'd get him on the phone with the background check people if at all possible.
He and I have both tried it. I'm guessing one of the other times he entered his number he might have typed it incorrectly.

I'm going to hope they meant two business days rather than 48 hours.
Sadly, no. They really do mean 48 hours. ::bangs head::
-
GOOD NEWS! They are allowing him to complete the last task!
BAD NEWS:. His SSN still won't work. He has 48 hours to complete the task and it's a three day weekend and I'm not sure anyone will be there to answer his call and straighten this problem out.
He'll be home in an hour to work this it. Keep your fingers crossed.

I'm in MA and I've had zero issues. I sent in my letter and a progress report at the end of the year.
