Thank you!
I had to look through 15 years worth of photos to find it. Lots of tongues sticking out in my photo roll. I wish I still looked that young and thin, but I still feel like that 26yo on the inside!

I’m so sorry. That’s a very familiar problem in our house.

My mom helped my aunt and grandmothers make my wedding dress and four bridesmaids dresses, which was an incredible and cherished gift in itself! They also paid for the food and drinks for our wedding, easily the most expensive part. I don’t think there was a physical gift for the actual wedding, but the pot and pan set they bought for my shower is still used daily.

DH and I got our 2nd Pfizer yesterday at about 1pm. He’s been very tired and had a brief episode of nausea last night that he didn’t mention until I had one this morning.
I started out today ok, but as the day wore on I’ve had very uncomfortable pain all over. I can’t tell if it’s my joints or bones, but it’s been a rough day pain wise. I finally took an Aleve and feel minimally better, like I might be able to sleep. I really hope this doesn’t last or happen with boosters!
I slept fitfully, but finally settled early this morning. When I woke up the pain was significantly less, which is probably why I could finally sleep. I’m still achy, but I think I can go about my day normally now. I’m going to skip my morning walk and do it this evening instead, though!
ETA~ I hope taking Aleve 24 hours after the shot doesn’t affect my immunity, but I definitely couldn’t have endured the pain without some pain reliever. 😞

How did you feel after your shot? I didn't feel bad until about 24 hrs after my first.
It hasn’t been 24 hours yet, so we may not be out of the woods, but so far we’ve just had sore arms and been a bit tired and we both had a sort of nauseous couple of minutes, Dh last night and me this morning.

DH and I get our second covid vaccines today, so I’m not sure if we’ll feel up to walking or not. I’ll be spending 3 hours in the car to get vaccinated, and visiting with my ILs who both have cancer and aren’t very active, so a lot of sitting. Maybe I should get in a quick walk before I leave.

I picture a woman sticking out her tongue. Like this:

Very accurate! It’s my default expression. 😄 Ok, maybe not default, but it’s definitely a frequent expression on my face. It runs in the family. My dad and grandfather and cousin and brother all do it.

I feel like I want to ask for an avatar, but I have no idea what it would be! And my username doesn’t offer any creativity.

Hey there, StillJessica--
Do you want me to delete your old account or merge the old one into the new one, or the new one into the old one? Let me know, and I can take care of it. Deleting removes all the old posts; merging should keep them.
Helpdesk
Oh, that would be great! I don’t care which way you merge, I’m fine with either username. Thank you!

Rough start to my morning with teenagers, so when I ran out at lunchtime for a couple of errands without having eaten anything today I ended up stress eating a pot pie at KFC. That’s 720 calories, so while not great I guess it could have been worse.
But I did good with exercise! I did a 3.55 mile walk with my dad. I’m nearly at 10,000 steps and the day is long from being over! My mood has lifted and my teens are once again safe from mom’s wrath. The pine trees made me smile today; so cute!- 5

I read the book sometime around 2002. My aunt had a copy, my cousin was homeschooling her kids, and they thought it was something I might like. I didn’t have kids yet. 😆 So when I got pregnant in 2003 I started lurking and learning. I don’t know when I first posted, but it was long before my oldest child was preschool age. She’s 17 now.

I thought so, although I confess to finding myself thinking how much I would not want to clean up all million and seven of those little balls.
I kept wishing I had her library! But, yeah, I wouldn’t want to clean the balls up, either!

Have you seen her new video, where she's looking like the quintessential mom?
No! I hadn’t! That was adorable.

I walked 2.2 miles this morning in 30 degree windy weather. I was dressed appropriately except for my legs, and I still can’t get warm. I’ve spent a large part of the day buried under a fleece blanket and a quilt on the couch. I won’t do that again unless I buy long underwear!

I couldn’t log back in after the last change in December, I think, and had already created a new account so I didn’t bother to contact the help desk. I wasn’t a prolific poster, anyway, despite being around since 2002. I used to be *Jessica*, possibly memorable as the creator of worksheets for Grammar-Land, and I think my profile pic was this

Also, every time I read the thread title I get Alanis Morissette’s “Hand in My Pocket” stuck in my head!
🎶 I have a big hand on my avatar

I have no idea how you’re doing those, but they’re much better than my blurry dog photo.

a routine task (like folding towels) might also be soothing.
I forgot that once my grandmother was in a nursing home memory care unit they would bring out a big basket of washcloths and small towels for the residents to fold! It really seemed to make them happy.

I’m so sorry. My grandmother had dementia and it was so very hard on my aunt who was her caregiver. Keeping you in my thoughts.

My 9yo and I did a 2.2 mile walk in the park this morning, no easy feat in 30-degrees with gusty winds! We identified as many trees as we could and saw a killdeer and lots of robins. She’s with my mom for the rest of the day, but I’ll be watching this thread for ideas of what we could do tonight.

She is fully vaccinated (thank goodness, with all the doctor appointments!) but I'm not sure she can even lean back like that right now. In fact, was just reading she may not even be allowed to lie down fully.
My other thought is to put her in the shower with a bag over her - like cut a hole in a plastic trash bag for her head, and tape it to her so I can stand in the shower and wash her hair. OR might be able to do the inflatable basin thing if Dad helps. But she's just not ready to even discuss it yet.
Oh man, that’s hard! Your poor momma. 🙁

Ugh, so miserable! I hope she’s not too uncomfortable while it heals. If she’s vaccinated, maybe going for a wash at a salon every three or four days would keep her feeling less icky?

I did a 3 mile walk this morning. It’s supposed to get to almost 70 today, so I’ll probably walk with the family again tonight.
