Yes, you can. You’re not a zombie or a robot. You can make yourself do it, but you’re too busy running the narrative that you “can’t”. But ultimately you CAN.

I think there is a strong possibility that this is not true.  I think Texas has an addiction and the only way to stop is with strategies used to treat addiction.

  2. Signing my daughter up for horseback riding lessons.  We started once per week, but we love it there so much that she now rides twice a week and we volunteer with the attached horse rescue.

I was very depressed before we started this adventure, but horses have truly changed my life.  They are my therapy.  They are better than any antidepressant, and any time I am struggling I spend extra time at the farm and magically feel better.

    Just another perspective for you:

I initiate 'doing things' less than my friends do with me, even though I am always happy to do thing they suggest.

The reason why has nothing to do with me not wanting to spend time with them - it's a complex fear of rejection coupled with not wanting to burden them with any requests.  I want to spare them saying 'no', for themselves, but also for me.

I'm not saying this is functional - I'm definitely trying to change it - but lop-sided initiation of activities doesn't always reflect lack of care/interest in the other person.

    This.  This is me exactly.

But I don’t stick to superficial topics; that does sound more like someone who doesn’t consider you a good friend but an acquaintance they enjoy spending time with but wouldn’t miss terribly if you disappeared from their life. 😞

My husband never even looked at the app or website. I had it set to auto upload transactions, so I could see what he spent, and would ask him for clarification if I needed it, as to what category it went in. Then if we were getting tight on an area I'd bring that up to him, or ask how he wanted me to redistribute things. But he never used the app/website himself. Ever.

It still helped me pay down our credit cards, etc.

That’s how we use it, too.

It's fun! We started doing this when I was in college and it was actually really nice for multigenerational connections. Like, being a young adult filling a grandparent or great-aunt's stocking is nice. Or having to do your sibling's. It's sort of fun.

I’m totally copying this tradition as soon as my youngest finds out it’s us filling her stocking every year!

  6. No power outages here.  They lost it briefly in a few areas, but got it back on very quickly.  This much snow piled up is pretty normal for winter here, it’s just that it all happened in 48 hours instead of 4” here and 6” there.  And it is heavy stuff!  Thankfully my husband bought a truck last fall and put a small plow on it this year.  I don’t know what we would have done if it all had to be shoveled by hand.  And I have a 17yo son who kept the fire hydrant clear.

  7. How much did you end up getting?  We didn’t get hit as bad as expected in the suburb I’m in; I think we have about 27”.  When I got home from work at 7:30 on Thursday night we had exactly zero snow.  I was incredible how fast we went from zero to 2 feet.  I haven’t taken any pictures today, but here are some from Friday.

Where my SIL and some friends live…..wowza.  They seriously got 6’ of snow in less than 2 days’ time!
