  1. How much did you end up getting?  We didn’t get hit as bad as expected in the suburb I’m in; I think we have about 27”.  When I got home from work at 7:30 on Thursday night we had exactly zero snow.  I was incredible how fast we went from zero to 2 feet.  I haven’t taken any pictures today, but here are some from Friday.

Where my SIL and some friends live…..wowza.  They seriously got 6’ of snow in less than 2 days’ time!

Ha! How about skip turkey?? 😂😂😂 I just can’t do it. Dh knows he can do one if he wants.

Skip anything but the stuffing!  Everything but the stuffing!  And please don’t put sausage in the stuffing. 😁 If you must make a second dish, make mashed potatoes.  Turkey is not very good, anyway.  Except for the crispy skin.

  3. Fantastic advice from previous posters.  I would add that while you’re working on some strategies for how he can respond, I would help him make a written list of responses that he could use when the questioning becomes too much.  Things like…

    “Mom is busy right now.”

”I have a lot to do; I need to go now.”

Simple things with no detail that make it so he isn’t lying, but can escape the pressure of the questioning.

Have you taken enough martial arts classes to learn how to block punches and hits?  You can block hard enough that it hurts without actually hitting.  I might ask a martial arts instructor for a private lesson or 5 and learn how to do that.

This seems wise, especially as he is only 11 and is going to be growing.  Being able to protect yourself from him will only get more important.  *Hugs*

  5. We had a party to attend last night and my 17yo wasn’t dressing up, but his outfit ended up being a lime green hoodie and light gray sweatpants.  My 11yo told him he looked like a sharpie, so that’s what he claimed his “costume “ was. 😂

    Update:

DH ended up leaving the chipmunk to stew in the bucket until trash day. When he reluctantly went out to deal with it, he discovered the yard rodent was missing. So some creature must have found itself a delicious, half rotted meal floating about temptingly and consumed it for a midnight snack.

    Problem solved!

Or you have a zombie chipmunk running around somewhere.  It is October.

I don’t have a horse. My dh hopes to someday as he grew up with horses and loves them. I had no idea glittery hooves were a thing. If we ever do have a horse I promise it  have glittery hooves. This is the very best thing I’ve ever seen. 😀

It’s not our horse, or pony really.  I wish!  She takes riding lessons and we sponsor a couple of the rescue horses, but this was at horse camp.  They put hoof polish on and sprinkled it with glitter for the show at the end of camp.    I hate glitter, but this even made me smile.

Even the boys got green and blue glittery hooves!

  8. My son is spending three weeks in Holderness, NH with a couple of very close family friends.  They are staying in the in-law suite of some of the other boys’ relatives and helping with some work in exchange for their lodging.  When they aren’t working or doing their online college classes they will be sailing on Squam Lake and mountain biking.

None of the boys have their license yet, though, and we don’t want to impose on the hosts for rides more than is absolutely necessary.

Is anyone familiar with the area and what might be available in terms of transportation? It looks like they’ll be about 9 miles from the marina, which might be doable on bike depending on what the roads/traffic are like and what kind of elevation changes there are.  But after chopping wood, biking 9 miles, and sailing I’m not sure how much energy they’ll have to bike home!  LOL

Their mother and I will be driving them there on Saturday, spending Sunday getting them all set up and exploring the area, then driving home Monday leaving them to have grand adventures.  I’m a teensy bit nervous, but so excited for them!
