  1. Field trips, arts and crafts, some good books from the library... those will be good things to do for now while you wait :) Wow. Kids go back to school early there huh? Here, the public schools start on Monday. We're gonna wave to the bus while we sit on the couch and read, in our pajamas, or something. :D
  2. I want to know if anyone dreamed about cabana boys!
  3. We used this free online site: http://webinstituteforteachers.org/~gammakeys/Lesson/Lesson1.htm
  4. My daughter will be 10 in just over a month and she'd love a penpal. She had two (in Poland which was pretty cool!) but the other girls stopped writing after 3 or 4 letters. She also had an email penpal who wrote one email then never replied again. So if anyone wants a 10 year old penpal from Pennsylvania (one who is not Christian I might as well go ahead and add now) let us know. :)
  5. That's okay. Enjoy the rest of summer!! We don't start til Labor Day over here. Maybe your stuff will come by then :D
  6. Wow- the only thing I ran today was the dishwasher. Oh, and the washing machine. Good for you, that's quite an accomplishment!! Congrats :)
  7. You're gonna make your 5,000th post to this thread right? Right?! :D
  8. Well, my family is Jewish, but not very religious. We do celebrate basically two holidays (Passover and Hanukkah). More for a sense of tradition and heritage than for true religious purposes. I homeschool secularly and do not buy religious curriculum. For that reason I chose the first option (though maybe you would have wanted me to pick the second, I don't know) :D
  9. As a huge Oak Meadow fan, I would recommend Oak Meadow's First Book Of Crafts if I was going to recommend a book/program. With that said, I don't think you NEED a book/program as there is so much free stuff online. Enchantedlearning.com has some really cute arts and crafts ideas, I've used a lot of those. Family Fun Magazine always has fun projects in it. But you can look up preschool crafts or kindergarten crafts and find tons of ideas for free. There are probably books at your library, too. One fun specific project I came across while searching online once was "watercolor painting"- with kool aid. Get a few different packets of kool aid, mix in a bit with water in a container til you get a consistency that's suitable for doing a watercolor type painting, and then let the kids paint away. It smells really good! They might enjoy trying to guess the flavor, and after it dries, you can do a "scratch n sniff" type thing with it, too! But don't use paper that has a heavier scent to it, like construction paper, or it will mask the scent of the kool aid.
  10. <tiptoes in to leer at a couple of pictures and then tiptoes back out again before she gets caught> <innocent whistle>
  11. Did you see that Quiverof10 just started a "getting healthy" social group here? Check it out! I am doing WW though (also for the upteenth time). Today is day 5 for me. I started it again on my own at home because I have all the materials and I'm familiar with it, and my husband is doing it with me. I decided not to go to WW meetings again because they are so expensive, but I found that there are TOPS meetings around here and we decided to go to those for our weigh ins/support/accountability because it's so much cheaper than WW. But WW is still the plan we'll be following. Feel free to PM me if you'd like :) Nance

  15. It's okay. I'm 11 MONTHS older than mine and he never lets me forget it. A few birthdays ago, he gave me a card that said something like: "Something to remember as you celebrate your birthday... you're still young." Inside it said: "But I'm still younger."
  16. Yeah, him. Hey we're all friends here. You can call me Mrs. R!
