  1. Darla, Sorry when I am really tired dates don't stick when I post the new threads. I will do better for tomorrow's. :) I like taking the train across country, but with 4 accidents in 2 months that may not be a good way either! . I don't think I would take a bus. I would take a train before I would take one even now! Statistically it isn't good to take a bus and I would rather drive at that point. Beth - Drives like that are the worst! AFM - Today didn't go as planned. Mama bear came out and while everything is okay now, it was mentally exhausting to go through it. However I am proud of what I was able to get done which is honestly more then I thought I would. :D
  2. Okay a new day and I am ready to do this! I am going to list the normal things for today and play a game of seeing how much I can get done! Breakfast lunch dinner snack laundry wash (kitchen - this is normally done on Saturday) laundry dry (kitchen) laundry put away (kitchen) laundry wash (lights) laundry dry (lights) laundry put away (lights) bring in trash can (ODS) gather items for swim class make bed dressed washed and moisturized empty dishwasher what's for dinner Left overs 15 minutes in the zone 15 minutes in the zone 30 minutes me time 5 minute hot spot update blog (really need to do this!) make dinner prepare for tomorrow shine sink medication wash bottles fill Berkey brush teeth Wash and moisturize Sterolize bottles Educate ODS (new spelling today!) 3. I am posting this very late but I have to share that we got our blessing hour done today!! YAY!! I can't believe we did it! It wasn't done perfectly but the fact that it was done was a HUGE step in the right direction! Monday's goal is to do the mission for the day. I would love to say mission plus 15 minutes, but that might be too much to ask. ;) I hope this week is a great week for everyone!
  4. Hello Flyminds! Welcome to the Flylady support thread. To find out what Flylady is: http://www.flylady.net/ You can also find people on YouTube if you search for it. We have completed the baby steps found here: http://forums.welltr...nday-october-1/ and here We have also completed a Building a Control Journal series found here: http://forums.welltr...-16-tue-oct-24/ If you would like to share your small accomplishments on instagram, please do so at #wtmflylady Advanced Flylady: This week the Flylady is focused on Zone 2 - Kitchen Monday - Weekly home blessing - Our mission today is to wipe down cabinets! Weekly home blessing is spending 10 minutes doing each of these: Vacuuming Dusting quick mop polish mirrors and door handles purge magazines and catalogs change all sheets empty trash. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday):Take 15 minutes and scrub your stove top. Soak the knobs and drip pans in hot soapy water while you clean the stove top. Some elbow grease and hot soapy water will take care of a lot. Don't become a perfectionist and try to get it as clean as the day it was new. Just do the best you can and then scrub the drip pans and knobs. Anything that you do will be better than what it was! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): For today's challenge you may need to ask Mom or Dad for help. We are going to make our beds as soon as we wake up! This means to pull the sheets and covers up and straighten them. Then place your pillow at the top of the bed. It is so nice see your room with a made bed. It is one of those things that makes your room look less messy. If you do not know how to make your bed, ask Mom or Dad to show you how. With practice you will be able to do this on your own and have your room look so much neater. If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  5. Sorry late night and busy day yesterday. I am starting to get my house in order so it looks like a baby is suppose to be here. LOL The good news is she sleeps very well so once the initial chaos is over I should be good. Today is the start of week 2 which is Kitchen. Ironically, I need to focus on this area next for baby. We have a tiny kitchen so need to find spots for all of the stuff we have now. :) Darla, this shouldn't be a stressful process to do Flylady. Take it as fast or as slow as you need.

  7. I can't believe it! I did everything on my list except for going clothes shopping and filling the Berkey. The Berkey didn't need to be filled, and the second hand store is about 45 minutes south (or north, there are 2). By the time I got the child's paperwork (about 4:30) it was too late for that drive. I am considering going tomorrow after I bring my boys back from German... if I am not too tired. Today wasn't bad, but I was a bit forgetful. I hope everyone else had a productive day. I promise I will be back in the swing of things in a couple of weeks. Right now I am just trying not to go too far backwards. :)
  8. Thank you everyone for your help! This has been very informative. I am just so afraid to do things "wrong" that I had to ask. Thank you everyone!
  9. I should clarify, I only mention the products I have because I don't want to go and buy something and find out that what I had on hand is just as good. I don't mind purchasing something that is "the best" because honestly I believe that if you are a child in foster care you deserve "the best". Thank you for the suggestions. I am open to more. :)
  10. I am a foster mom and I just got an African American baby. I know that they tend to have drier skin and hair then other ethnic groups. What products specifically work best on a baby for moisturizer and hair care? When I look online they just say pick a product with ____ and without ____. I need the baseball bat to the head (figuratively). What specific products do people recommend? I already have the organic naturals head to toe from Johnson and Johnson. I assume this is okay for soap right? I also have the Target version of Aveeno Active Naturals Daily Moisturizing Lotion. Would this be good for a baby? Or should I get a baby specific item? Also what about hair? I have Costco avocado oil, I also have coconut oil. Is that what I should use? I know this is only after bath time. I also have a baby soft brush for the hair and also a wide comb. Thank you for any help you can give me! :)
  11. Okay I have a moment (though YDS needs lunch... and probably I need lunch too). So far I have went to 4 stores trying to find liquid formula that I needed Educated both DS's Fed everyone breakfast ODS is fed Dug out a ton of things I needed for DFD - the will be an ongoing process. Only one cup of coffee so far but I fear #2 is soon Need to do: wash and steroilize bottles transfer things I need to diaper bag grocery shop maybe go clothes shopping for DFD figure out a good set up for night time changes and feedings (I am close but not where I would like to be. dinner movie night relax fill Berkey get paperwork and needed stuff from state make sure boys are ready for german tomorrow That is all I can think of for now. :)

We use each Friday as our De-Clutter your Purse and Car day. This only takes a few minutes and saves us lots of time later. Without the candy wrappers, old receipts, and other trash in your purse, finding your car keys becomes a breeze! Removing all the clutter and trash from your car ensures that you won’t be hit by any UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) in the event of a crash. Set aside a few minutes just for these two tasks each Friday. Here’s a list of things to toss: Old gum and candy wrappers Soda bottles Scraps of paper/old receipts Drive thru bags and cups Jackets/coats/shoes Set your timer and get to it. Friday is also Date Night. Relationships have to be nurtured. If not, you are going to wake up one day when the children are grown and not know the person you chose to spend your life with. It is up to us to make sure we grow together! Now don’t think I am going to leave out you single people! We all have relationships! Some are marital and others are friendship. As for those friendships that you have let fall by the wayside because your home was too messy for people to come over, it is time to pick up the phone and just say hi! Relationships are not just inanimate objects; they are made of people with feelings. When we open up our hearts and let someone else in, we become better people! We can’t just ignore the relationship and expect it to stay the same. People need attention! You need attention! If you give it, it will come back to you! I promise. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): This is our last day in Zone 1! Today I want you to add personal touches to the entrance, Dining Room, and Front porch. This can be a table cloth for the dining room, or a welcome mat for the porch. If you are not ready to add anything into Zone 1, do a 27 fling boogie. Turn on your favorite music and get rid of 27 items! It does not matter if it is a piece of paper it counts! Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today is really easy - check your bedroom floor for any paper clutter that you do not need and toss it in the recycle bin or the trash can. Check your floor for things that you do not need, love, or use! Remember: Less stuff to clean and put away means more time to play! If you are new to Flylady, please join at any time. There is no better time then now to learn to keep your house clean the easy way!
  13. My DH is cleaner then I am. However he does have his piles. I just get on to him and he clears them... or I put them in a box and then they are cleared. ;) I drag my feet on doing the later with my boys though. Out of sight out of mind with them. That isn't good all the time. :( I got the placement (infant) so expect me to be on here at weird times. LOL Tomorrow I am not exactly sure what I am doing. However I hope to do my basic chores... even if I need lots and lots of coffee! Time to get the new thread up!
  14. Powell's Books, Fort Vancouver (and the oldest apple tree in the state across Hwy 14), Saturday market if there for a the right time for that, Multnomah falls if you have a car. I grew up there. But I haven't been in about 9 years (family is still there I just haven't been). Food I would look to Roses it was always a good place to go as a kid. Honestly if I were to go back I would want to ride Max (the light rail system). It is amazing how much it has grown since I was a teenager. Have fun!
  15. Found out how to get the motivation to get several hot spots clean. I got a call for a placement. That will do it every time! Now lets see if I get the placement. But if not my hot spots are out. ;) I hope everyone else is doing well today. I did 15 minutes in the zone and 2 hot spots. I consider that good for today. :) Tonight dinner was picked out by my oldest while he was freezer diving. He picked out cow liver and onions. He is 9. I have an odd one alright. :D
  16. I thought this could be a fun thread. I recently changed the ring tones for my husband, mother and father to things that reminded me of them. Mom is Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson (she is a huge fan) Dad is When The Phone Doesn't Ring, It's Me by Jimmy Buffet (Dad is a huge Parrothead, wanted Pirate Looks At 40 but there was no ringtone for that). DH is I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers (known on the movie Benny and Joon). We have always liked that song and it was better then some of the other ones that remind me of him. Still need to find one for my Dad #2. So what ringtones do you have for people in your life?
  17. Artistic Pursuits is becoming that way. I don't see art as a "core subject" so I just haven't made it a priority. I need to work on that but I am starting to think I should just let it go and try something a bit easier for us.
  18. It also went up in price. :( Not sure but that may price us out of it... or at least make us try on our own first.
  19. Good Morning! Today my goals are: bring in trash/recycling cans (ODS) Wash laundry Dry laundry put away laundry (whites) DH did this last night. :) make bed dressed washed and moisturized breakfast empty dishwasher what's for dinner 15 minutes in the zone 15 minutes in the zone lunch snacks 30 minutes ME time grade papers 5 minute hot spot update blog bible reading make dinner prepare for next day shine sink medication refill berkey brush teeth wash and moisturize (evening) ODS school YDS school Costco trip Hopefully it will not be that bad of a day today. :)
  20. Hello Flyminds! Welcome to the Flylady support thread. To find out what Flylady is: http://www.flylady.net/ You can also find people on YouTube if you search for it. Thursday at FlyLady is Errand Day. We use this day to get out and run whatever errands we need to do for the week. Make a list of wherever you need to go and whatever you need to do during the day today and then get to it. This can include: Grocery shopping Doctor appointments Dentist appointments School shopping Dropping the clothes off at the cleaner And tons of other things. If it needs to be done outside the house, today is the day to do it. Make a list of these things and check them off as you do them. Today's Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): Today lets dust the base boards in the entrance and dining room. So, Grab your duster or damp rag and set your timer for 15 minutes. I bet all of you can get this mission done before the timer goes off. Fly Kids Mission (We only have missions Monday through Friday): We are going to go into our rooms or the area in the house where we keep our crayons, markers, coloring books and craft supplies. Set a timer for 15 minutes and go through this items. Toss out the items that you no longer use, love, need or want. If you have things that you no longer want but are good enough to bless someone else with put those items in a separate bag and give to Mom. Throw away the dried up markers, small broken crayons - anything that is no longer usable that is taking up space. Remember: Less stuff to clean and put away means more time to play! 21. Happy Girl - I am in central NJ but not by the shore. Ironically, my children were not born here. I had my triplets at a major teaching hospital and was terrified after that of having another NICU baby (ODS was one) so I gave birth in the same hospital for both of them. However I would bet money on my daughter (I foster so I am waiting on a placement and hope to adopt) will be born here in New Jersey. :) Good for you for having a donation bags ready. I have one in my van myself. However sadly it isn't my donation to speak. The last placement came with a ton of clothes and a lot too small. So I went through it and am donating the stuff I wouldn't use. Beth - Few people are as happy as Diane in Denmark. Denmark is one of the happiest places on earth right? Maybe you just need more candles or focus on the Hygge! ;) Well I had a conversation with my mom about Flylady. She said it sounds difficult. I said that the hardest part she already has done. My mom NEVER has clutter in her home. She says she hides it, but honestly she really has very little clutter (unless I come to visit then I have clutter that I bring with me. ). So I said to her that it is all about routines and that it isn't very hard if you go about it slowly. I doubt she will change anything for a while. She really just wants to move.
  22. I did fairly well today. Need to get dinner started soon. I realized today that I should go to Costco tomorrow. I am planning on going grocery shopping Friday, but some items that are frozen might be better to get at Costco so I am going to try. I have been missing Pacific Northwest seafood recently. I grew up out there so it is about time I miss it. LOL I also looked at my older son's attendance record (we don't have to keep track of days for this state) and realized that just my teaching isn't 180 days. However when I add in all the days of German school suddenly he looks way ahead. Maybe I should count those! However typically ODS is educated 7 days a week as DH does Science and History with him on the weekends. I am glad I don't have to count days. They would never believe me!
  23. Reading - AAR 1 (currently about 2/3 through AAR pre-reading) Math - MUS Alpha (currently about 1/2 through MUS Primer) Science - Elemental Science Intro to Science (currently doing Evan Moor Everyday Literacy Science) Handwriting/spelling - Spelling You See (will start this next week) Forgot to add: German - Outside the home "Saturday School". He will be in the Kindergarten class next year. He is in the Preschool class this year. He will not get a book till 2nd grade. Sport - Swim class every week as well
  24. I do have HO Ancients but it is in my children's room and they are still asleep. However I did want to mention you might want to check out the History of China podcast. It might help you teach Chinese history to your child better.
  25. I co-slept with my youngest till he was nearly 4. He is 4 now and I miss it at times. :( My older son I was having to stay with till he fell asleep when I was in radiation therapy (he was just shy of 2). He didn't like that I wasn't home when he woke up so that was his issue then. Since then he has had his moments and he is terrified of EVERYTHING (his brother is a bit braver then him) but I don't have to stay with him for the most part now that his brother sleeps in the same room as him. I say enjoy it while you can. They grow up so fast!
