Ok, so I found some freesias blooming in the corner of the yard and picked them and put them in a pretty vase with some feverfew. It's very pretty, but it's driving my allergies crazy. Freesias are strong.

I use it for math for all of my kids and it's going really well. My two oldest had been doing TT and just really were floundering. Especially in the area of fractions. I think CLE teaches fractions, especially factoring and all that really well. I am sold on their Phonics program. I went through 3 different phonics programs with my middle DD in kinder and nothing worked. Finally, in first grade we tried CLE, since it is designed for first graders and she learned to read quickly and is an avid reader now a year later. I like the LA a lot, too. One thing I really like is that the kids can do it mostly independently. It is straightforward and easy to understand.

We didn't get any hail because hail canons. The hail will damage crops, but we don't get Texas sized hail. We get pea sized hail. Honestly, any kind of weather here besides "sunny and warm" gets everyone in a tizzy. But hail will ruin fruit. I used to pack fruit and I remember growing a ton away due to hail damage. It's horrible.

We live where there are a lot of stone fruit and hail damages it. So, a hail canon creates sound waves that break up the hail in the clouds. Some people don't believe they work, but we haven't had hail any time they turn the canons on. They make loud booms.

I have very tiny caterpillars in a cup on my kitchen countertop. We don't do this every year, more like every other year or so, because they are kind of expensive, but they are fun! Also, we are taking a butterfly class with our homeschool group.

I want to grow cilantro at the same time I grow tomatoes. So I can make pico de gallo. But cilantro doesn't grow here in the summer. Parsley seems a bit more hardy toward the heat and if I wack it back it'll last till the freeze.
