  1. Another thing to check is to make absolutely sure your thread is threaded properly through all the little hooks and whirlibobs and doodlydoos. (Oh, I see Kitten18 just mentioned this, so I'll second it).

I am not an expert by any means, unfortunately. My mother tried to teach me when she was alive and I refused to learn. Now I'm wishing I had! It helps to have someone show you. Luckily my SIL helped me get started and now I can usually mess around a few times and figure it out.

  2. She is, at 1:00 central time today, taking the Graduate Record Examination. I'm sure she is nervous and anxious for it to all be over. ;) She already has 2 professors who have heartily agreed to take her on as a grad assistant...doing interdisciplinary research with them on *Vertebrate Vectors of Slime Mold* :ack2: ... but she must pass this final hurdle. Thank you so much~

    Praying!

  3. Hugs, Nakia. One of our cats died several years ago, she was around 20. My dd was I think 3 1/2 or 4 at the time, and she took it very hard. She still likes to go out in the yard and put things on Chloe's grave...painted rocks and feathers and flowers and things. I let her do it since it makes her happy. We also got another cat fairly soon after Chloe died, and he's been a wonderful pet.

  4. We live at the dead end of a gravel road, and a SCHOOL BUS came around our cul-de-sac ninety to nothing and KILLED my beautiful Aussie, Buster.

It was probably very quick, as there was some pretty severe damage. My son and husband would not let me see him.

So senseless. I am really angry and upset. He was a WONDERFUL pet!

I'm so sorry :grouphug: What a horrible thing to have happen. I'd be calling the school district or someone to complain. A school bus has no right to be speeding like that...what if there had been kids there? So sorry about your poor dog :crying:

  5. Check out the site in my signature, ThredUP - it's a site for exchanging gently used kids' clothes.

I do a lot of thrift store shopping for my kids. I'm lucky that we have some excellent thrift stores that I can usually find some very nice brands very inexpensively, plus they often have 50% off clothing sales. I do NOT shop Goodwill, though, they are way overpriced.

I also shop Children's Place and naartjie when they have sales. Sometimes I can get great deals there, and it's nice for buying dressier clothes or pj's. But yeah, I know the whole budget deal, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Luckily my kids have no problem wearing thrift store clothes, except I always need to buy new Levi's for my oldest to wear since he's super tall and skinny.
