My sister has challenged me to do a 5K run with her June 4. Since the Couch-to-5K program trains for 9 weeks, 3xday, is there a safe way to accelerate it so that I'd be ready by then? As for current physical condition: I'm going to test for my black stripe next month for Tae Kwon Do, and Sis and I have been doing a modified (read: VERY slow and modified!;)) P90X 3xweek for about 6 or 7 weeks. I'm also overweight. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure I want to get an iPad. Is there any real reason I would want the iPad 2 over the iPad, if money were a sticking point?

Don't feel bad; sis and I usually get ours done by early Feb, and I just finished mine yesterday, and she's still working on hers! I spent last week replacing paperwork that I had lost. I've never been this scatterbrained or late before. Don't worry -- you'll get it done. Just wanted you to know you aren't alone!;)

I'd err on the safe side and throw them out (then cry, because I know how much work canning is, and how wonderful it is to have canned fruit!:sad:).

I've got a Kindle, and really like it. When ds and I went to pick up a new power cord for our laptop, I took a look at the Ipad 2 and was really impressed. I'm thinking of getting it, but I'm wondering if you might help me find what's available for what I want: 1. A fairly large screen; the 2 or 3 inch ipods just don't work for my old eyes! 2. Small, portable and light-weight. 3. e-reader friendly so I can still use my Kindle account 4. Able to use as a day planner 5. Able to let me listen to Pandora 6. Able to use for email and basic web-browsing (no gaming) 7. Gentle on the pocketbook; I'd rather keep it below $400 8. Able to use a stylus, as I have a hard time with small keyboards/texting Does such a thing exist? Thanks!

I joined WW a few weeks ago -- I'm not losing much, but I know that would improve if I would just follow the plan!:tongue_smilie: Sis and I are trying P90X three times a week (notice the word 'trying'), and I do Tae Kwon Do three times a week. My muscles are strong, and my endurance and flexibility are pretty good, but I'd like to get rid of that flexible middle!:glare: As for weight, let's just say I will be happy to see that "1" as the first number.

A different take: I read it aloud to 15yo ds; we didn't "study" it, but read it purely for our enjoyment. (And yes, though it wasn't his favorite, ds did like it.)

My plans are for ds to read 12-14 books over 2 semesters (evenly split between American and British lit)), along with some short stories and poetry for each. He is not the reader that his older siblings are -- not that he can't understand, just that he doesn't enjoy classics unless read aloud, and even then, they are far from his favorites. A beautiful woman gone; RIP. I loved her and Richard Burton in Taming of the Shrew. She was one of those lovely women that kept her good looks with age -- along with Maureen O'Hara and Olivia de Havilland.

How cool! The family I lived with during college had a clavichord and harpsichord that they had built -- boy, did I enjoy playing them. (The clavichord was MUCH kinder sounding during the middle of the night! :D ) I didn't finish any books this past week. I'm still working on Robinson Crusoe as a read-aloud, and Nurse! We finished Silas Marner as a read-aloud. While ds didn't enjoy it as much (it isn't adventure like White Fang and Call of the Wild), he did like it. I had never read it, so it was a treat for me. I finished Doctor of the Heart. This week, I'm reading Heaven is for Real; I haven't decided yet what ds and I will read together.
