  1. I'm losing my brain. Buying something I really need from the store only to come home and find it's something else is becoming a common occurrence. I needed heavy cream and I came home with 2 L of half and half. I needed fettuccine and I have thin spaghetti. What the what?!
  2. At the top of each page is the same summary. I have rows labeled: standard score, percentile, scaled score, z score, and t score. The columns are labeled with the abbreviations I listed in the first post. They give a range except vs which has a number. ???
  3. I asked dh today and he said he gave me all the papers he received but the dr verbally explained everything. I was present at the first meeting but dh took ds to the testing since it was over 2 days and several hours each. The eval was given to dh a few weeks (?) later. The dr just walked it over to dh since their offices are close to each other.
  4. Can someone explain some abbreviations on a neuropsych exam for me? Ds had psychoeducational testing and I'm having trouble reading the report. DH may have forgotten to give me some pages with an explanation. What do VS, S, HA, A, LA, B, and I stand for? What is a scaled score, a Z score, and a T score? He took the WISC-IV and the WJ-III if that is helpful. Thanks!

  6. Thank you, this is all very helpful. This is already a specialized hs environment that emphasizes student autonomy and expects students to address academic concerns themselves. Parental contact with teachers is limited to the open house normally. So for the teacher to say this often is odd.
  7. Please give me some perspective about this pre-calculus class. Would you be concerned if: 1) the teacher expressed before several classes how he hates when parents get involved 2) gives timed tests eg. 20 minutes for 5 graphing functions questions 3) in the above test each question is worth 1 mark for a total of 5 marks, no partial marks given 4) the teacher does not hand back the tests and homework assignments Thanks
  8. Wild rice pilaf with golden raisins and roasted nuts.
  9. Thanks everyone. We're planning for February or April. The youngest will be nine. Do you think Legoland is worth the money? Only the two youngest are still Lego obsessed. Or should we spend the extra day at Universal. Planning for 2 full days and maybe a half day.
  10. Thank you! This is so helpful!🙂
  11. Please help me plan our trip to Universal Studios in Orlando. This is our first time although we've done Disney several times. Are there places to stay onsite or is it better to get a room offsite? Are there shuttles like at Disney? How many days do we need to plan for? Is Legoland a separate day all for itself? Also tips for rides and food are appreciated. Thanks!
  12. We use paperless post. The email is an envelope that they open and the Christmas card comes out.
  13. I grew up as a visible minority in a very white community. When I first heard the term microagression, it was just a "yes!" that is what I've been experiencing. It's not that I was insulted so much as a "oh I'm different and being treated different" (not worse or better but different). It's more of a big inward sigh than being insulted. An example is I'll be asked where I'm really from but my husband with a very unusual last name will be asked where is your name from? The assumption is I couldn't be from around here or came recently but my husband's family obviously came a long time ago and he is from here.
  14. I generally assume good intent in people and a genuine curiousity even if it's expressed poorly but some microagressive comments that still stick with me are 1) when a complement started with "you people" 2) when someone I just met was surprised I met my husband at school; they thought I was a mail order bride. I was raised in North America, I don't have a foreign accent. 🙄
  15. He grew up with her ways so he's used to them. I don't tell him all things she says. He rolls his eyes at some of the things she says in front of him. They live far away so that helps.
  16. I know they aren't going to change and that's why I'm venting here and biting my tongue. I think telling my children that they are morally deficient because of the way they play a game is a big deal. She said this during the game and ended the game early by saying she can't play this way. Which is ironic because she is a ruthless player and I stopped playing games with her early in our marriage because of the way she plays. I think telling people incorrectly that my dad acted in a mercenary way when in fact he very generously gifted valuable items is a big deal.
  17. I have to get this out! Dear MIL, If you are going to get upset when discussing politics and religion then please do not bring up the topics 10 minutes into your visit with the assumption your viewpoints are right and everyone agrees with you. Please stop telling anecdotes where people are either man/woman, a black man/woman, a Hispanic man/woman, or a really cute Asian person. Children can play board games and act in an opportunistic way to win the game and this is not a moral failing on their part. They are just playing a game and you are sore you are losing. Please stop acting like you know my parents and can tell your friends inaccurate stories about them when you have only met them a handful of times in 2 decades. Please stop abbreviating children's names when you have been told we don't do that. Please stop taking through movies and tv shows! We can see what is going on; and if I mentally check out and play on my phone because I can't stand it anymore please don't make the assumption I'm not into these kind of shows! Sincerely, DIL I feel a little better. My heart is not beating as fast.ðŸ˜
  18. Aaaaah! In laws have been visiting since Tuesday and this is the second night I'm in bed fuming and not sleeping. Apparently my face is showing an attitude (dh's private words to me) and I look "censorious" (MIL's words) when really I'm biting my tongue so hard. 😠😠ðŸ˜
  19. I bought one but I always forget to bring it with me. I ended up giving it to my kids to play "going to Starbucks" with their play food.
  20. Here's what the finished product looked out. Sorry, took me awhile to figure how to add pictures.
  21. It's been awhile so I dug up my pattern that I printed out. It looks like I folded it in half, had kid lie down to make the markings. My notes said I made it more than 8" from the body. Looking at the pattern, I probably didn't fold it again in the vertical center. I would just lay it flat and put a t-shirt right on top and trace a collar. I wouldn't make the shape too deep because you are going to fold a bit to hem. Cut out the collar and then cut up the front of the robe. Have your child try it on and adjust the collar to be comfortable.
  22. I used this pattern several years ago. I wanted to to add a fancier collar so I cut a collar shape and sewed my own collar. For a simple collar, fold the robe in half place a t-shirt, also folded in half, on top and trace the outline of the collar.
  23. I use it to make this recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/curried-chicken-salad-recipe.html It's a family favorite. I use grapes instead of raisins and add chopped apples.
