  1. Thanks ladies...I will research all of these suggestions later on this evening.
  2. Hi, I have recently been trying to make the switch to all organic, but the closest store to me is about 40 minutes away. Does anyone ever order organic online ( like dry foods, cake mixes, cookies, the little milk boxes) and if so, can you recommend a good website? thanks,
  3. Hi, Just wanted to add we are using Chalkdust Pre-Algebra and its seems to be very thorough...we previously used Thinkwell and thought it lacked a bit in content.
  4. We are using Writing Tales 1 and 2 for my 4th grader, Jump In for my 6th grader and Lightening Lit 7 for my 7th grader. We are very happy with all of them...for some reason, we didnt enjoy IEW or Writing Strands, although they work very well for many of our friends. Good Luck with your search.
  5. Hi, We are currently using the following and love all of them. I wouldn't say they are necessarily for gifted kids....I think all kids could benefit greatly from this style of interative hands on study..anway, here is what we have: I Wonder-K ( this is by far my favorite)-Great for wiggly worm kids, ages 5-6. Mystery Disease-using for Grade 6 Stock Market-using for Grades 6-7 Mystery River-using for Grade 6 Patterns- Grade 1 ( not using yet)
  6. Stephanie K..have you personally used this curriculum? SpyCar..can you provide the link to that comment? I have personally used pre-level 1 Chem, Chem 1, Bio 1 and starting Physics 1 and in each case, there has been absolutely no mention of evolution in any text. They are written from a very neutral viewpoint. I get very concerned when statements like above are posted without links to support them. If you could please provide the links or PM, I would appreciate it. Thanks,
  7. Well, I have a very different perspective after losing my only sister ( age 45) and brother in law ( age 44)...(they have surviving children) this year in separate tragic car accidents....same thing went on with my siblings for years....I have three brothers...each never acknowledging my gifts....until my sister's wake...when each of them in their own way told me how much they appreciated me all of these years and how in hindsight, they wish they had a chance to tell my sister the same thing, but now they never will....want my advice?? Life is too short for stuff like this. You really just dont know what tomorrow will bring so just pick up the phone and clear the air.....and just ask them what they would like to do for holiday gift giving...for all you know, they really treasure your generosity:) You are a great sister for doing this all these years....despite the lack of response....but you need to talk to them before it might be too late one day and you will never really know how they feel.....just my two cents...Blessings:)
  8. I get an error message about maximum allocation exceeded whenever I try. Has anyone else had this problem? Its been going on for about three days...thanks!
  9. We use Hewitt Preschool Plus also and LOVE it...totally hands on, just like it should be...with a nice schedule for me:)
  10. Hi, how do I leave you positive feedback?

  11. Sorry, I am new with posting. The grade levels we would be using are 4,6,7. Thanks
  12. Hi, I am trying to plan for next year and I was hoping to have at least one or two subjects the kids could complete independently. Has anyone used these CDs and if so, are they challenging? Do your kids like them? Do they save time compared to having mom say all the words? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I have two very strong spellers currently using Sequential and one finishing up All About Spelling that has informed me she would like to try something different "on the computer". Thanks, Colleen
  13. Although I dont use A Beka for anything else, I do love their penmanship programs. I love how they integrate zoology or other topics into each book...keeps life more interesting for my daughter. :001_smile:
  14. We love ourlosbanos, its called Memorable Places in American History and its free. Also, you might want to look at the All American History curriculum from Bright Ideas Press
  15. Hi, We used Rock Around the Earth last year but it didnt have a text, so I guess it was a bit different. I usually order the whole thing as it makes my life sooo much easier, LOL..I like having a schedule and I like to have all the additional resourses needed right at my fingertips..:)
