  1. I spiral it....move on, back to CVCs, move on.... etc...
  2. For us it id Phonics/Reading Math Handwriting Science Social Studies Art Music Health Literature
  3. Seasons of Joy has been great for my preschoolers! I add in a little math (through play) and alphabet/letter sounds and its perfect. http://www.ourseasonsofjoy.com
  4. I will know tomorrow if I need to get a job. DHs hours may be drastically cut - or he may get a management position, which is no more pay but has benefits. It is between him and one other guy and the other guy has seniority. I will need to bring home $650 a month. DH already has a second job, so it falls on me. If I have to get daycare, it would mean I would need to make quite a bit more or work more hours, which means I cannot homeschool. Are there any legitimate work at home jobs that are not selling avon, scensy, partylite, and thevlike? I could do books, but I cannot afford the software and advertising and there are tonbin our small town already. I don't have money to pay someone to work for them. Am I out of luck?
  5. Has anyone used this? http://www.spanishchamps.com/products/Spanish-Champs-Curriculum-Kit.html
  6. I really wanted to teach the girls French, but I don't speak it at all and I see it has being a fail. I have so-so conversational spanish and know minimal ASL. I am torn between those two. Can those using either help convince me?
  7. My current husband cried when each of his parents died. My ex cried every time he drank too much, so 4 or 5 days a week. Seriously, it was horrible.
  8. Right now, we do a simple workbook and really expand on it. I do a lot of problems on the board ever day...we started fraction concepts today buy making a pizza from scratch....so I don't mind teacher intensive...at this age, at least. I do have Life of Fred coming as a supplement because it just looked cute, lol.
  9. Older DD will be doing OM1 and I was planning on doing our own math....unless it is a good program. I don't have the materials in hand yet, so can some tell ne about the math?
  10. My plan for my rising K is to use a core she will enjoy while still challengjng her. I decided to go with Oak Meadow 1 as a core. I know that I can expand the science easily. The health, arts, social studies, and music are a perfect fit. I am unsure about math and LA. She will be 5 in June. She is reading Step 1 books easily, but needs a bit of reinforcement in phonics rules. We enjoy Queens for a break in monotony, but they aren't enough, IMO. In math, she is adding and subtracting single digits, understans ordinal numbers, and is starting on place value. I will use Life Of Fred for fun, but I am not sure the OM math will be enough. Thoughts on a math?
  11. Older DD is very math. She needs a mastery approach. She also needs manipulatives. Ideas?
  12. Older DD is using Queens Language Lessons For Little Ones - with a lot of tweaking to beef if it up - and she loves it. I, however, have been looking more at Queen and I do NOT like their religious beliefs, like little girls need always wear dresses to please God. What other LA would we like moving into 1st grade?
  13. Thanks! I think at this rate, I am doomed to just piece it all together, lol.
  14. What are your opinions on Calvert for K? Is it overpriced? Too boring for a hands on kid who does like workbooks. The LA would be remedial, but the other concepts would be on track for her.
  15. My youngest is that way. She heard The Little Brown Seed today and told it to her grndma almost verbatim two hours later. Older DD still can't do that and she is two yearsvoldrr.
  16. This is what older DD did for K4. 4x/week: Circle Time (memory verse, storytime, movement activity or fingerplay) 4x/week: Phonics/Reading 5-10 minutes 4x/week: Fine Motor Skills 5-10 minutes 2x/week: Math 5-10 minutes 1x/week: Nature Study 1x/week: Cooking/Baking 1x/week: Handwork 1x/week: Art
