  1. I normally don't post on the general board but I figure its the right place. I had a cortisone shot in my hip last Wednesday for arthritis and a possible labral tear. I get the MRI results tomorrow afternoon. But since the shot, I have slept maybe 2-3 hours a night and have had night sweats. Has this happened to anyone else? I googled it butbthought I would ask people directly. Thanks!
  2. Can anyone recommend a good book to use as a supplement to Oak Meadow in reading? Or a book that explains it to me a little better? Thanks!
  3. I really conisdered P4/5 and checked out a few library books to see if I liked them first and, in all honesty, it was more "dark" than I wanted Kindergarten to be.
  4. What is the best planner (paper or online) for scheduling for two kids? I tried just writing a schedule out but got nowhere fast. Thanks!!!
  5. I had planned on adding ETC for phonics as my older is reading (mostly self taught thanks to Leap Frog, lol) and my younger knows all her letters and sounds. And for math, just using Singapore. Everything else would be OM. ETA: we will be doing OM1, not K.
  6. I have a K4 this coming year. I am very excited. I think we have settled on Oak Meadow Kindergarten and Handwriting Without Tears. I want to do "everything" with both kids but I know K4 is supposed to be fun :)
  7. My 4 year old is doing (subject to change, lol) Oak Meadow K Handwriting Without Tears Pre-K Singapore Earlybird Math Explode the Code 1
  8. Besides the wood pieces, TGs, workbooks, and slate chalk board, what is ESSENTIAL for pre-k and K?
  9. I have them sitting here and I woukd say yes, they look to be extremelly helpful.
  10. My hands on does great with Singapore! As long as I have the manipulatives, CD Rom, and keep the lesson as short ala CM.
  11. This is repost but I still need help. I am still very torn. I am not sure I can handle running K and 1 concurrently. ODD is ready for OM1, except for math which I will supplement with singapore 1a/1b. YDD would do well with the K, no doubt, but I think she could handle a lot of the 1. My issue is that 1 is obviously 2 years ahead and in the next couple of years, the difference would show. I do plan on using OM for the next few years. I know NOT combing might be best. What do you think?
  12. I was planning OM K for my pre-k. In fact, I have it sitting here. I may go ahead and let her tag along with the older in OM 1, though. I can't decide. But I will say, at least for my pre-k, it still pretty (maybe too much so) darn gentle. I am pretty torn but more than likley will shelve the K.
  13. Thanks! I know I need to learn to get tougher.
  14. I live in Idaho, where we have no record keeping requirements. According to HSLDA, we are the easiest State to homeschool in. But I already have my Pediatrician and DDs OT on my butt about homeschooling....well more about putting the kids IN school. So in addition to joining HSLDA, I feel like I need to keep good records. How do I go about this?
