  1. Thanks, I have missed this the past 2 years......
  2. All I need to put me in the mood to remove clutter....is a trip to my MIL's house....she has so much stuff that she can never find the stuff she's saving for a rainy day....she has at least, and I'm not exagerating, 10 rubbermaid containers full of fabric....WHY? Whenever she needs fabric, so goes to the store? :lol:WHen I go there, I can't wait to come home and do my best to be nothing like that.
  3. I'm ambidextrous....I write and eat lefthanded...I used to have to sneak up and trade out the lefty scissors for right handed scissors. I think it's a great thing to be. But, I was told that it's actually considered a learning disability.... :glare:whatever!! I wrote my letters and some numbers backward until the 4th grade...not all of them, and not on accident. I can still remember sitting there and thinking...which way does this one go again????? And looking for the wall charts in the room. my flips were....B's and D's...I couldn't remember which lowercase was which...5's, 2's, and S's, were difficult for me to write...reading them was never a problem it was that troublesome MANUSCRIPT on big paper that gave me grief. I was actually put in reading disability classes and treated dislexic until we moved..and the new teacher realized that THAT wasn't my problem....once my limits were removed I flew to the top reading group. For this reason...I started my kids in cursive early, just so that they could go right to it and skip the problems. Cursive b's and d's are obviously different and cursive s's don't look ilke 5's or backward 2's. I figured that at least one of my kids would be like me....it's the baby...My 4yo is flipping which hand he uses..... My thoughts....it wil be outgrown, I can remember having to put my pencil on my desk and grab it to write my name to help me remember my left from my right...
  4. There are really good battery operated ones for around $25....one time I picked one up for a student on sale for $10. most have headphone jacks... As Piano teacher, I recommend going into a music store and seeing, feeling and hearing the ones that they have. I have a Seiko Quartz Metronome, in my house right now...It isn't the latest model. It doesn't have a volume control, but, it does have a place for headphones, AND it has an option for "light only" no clicks. These new babies, will also aid in tuning. It will "hum" Bflat and A, I think I paid between $25 and $40 for mine about 5 years ago.
  5. I'm working on mine RIGHT NOW. I have to keep asking myself....will I use it this year or next year? Will it fit in a folder? Where can I put it? Do my kids even CARE about it? Can someone else get more use out of it? this last question is the most important....how many times have we saved clothes for a child, only to find that when it fit them, the elastic was shot or they refused to wear it. So, I've gotten to where I just trust God that the things I need will be here when I need them. So I pass on the wealth and the supplies. I recently picked up lots of good stuff at a used curriculum sale....much of it was in the freebee's pile. So, I felt the need to replenish the freebees, with stuff I was hanging on to and wouldn't need for years to come....I thought....someone needs this TODAY. As for the kids special stuff.....I'd enlist their help with finding those things to keep and those things to trash....where should they go etc. I have a friend who frames and displays the stuff that is most special to her kids. Another idea is to use those posterboard storage containers that are available at all teacher supply stores....there are the boxes to house them and then there are file folders that slide in those boxes....I bet they'd slide under the bed. I think that they are known as bulletin board storage boxes.
  6. I've searched and searched for a solution, add to the need for something fast...a husband who won't eat eggs and still wants huge amounts of breakfast protein. Oh AND, he doesn't like the same thing all the time.:glare: I tell him that he's not a cheap date. Here are some things that we've found over the years. There are recipes (on body building websites) for homemade protein bars. They usually call for Protein or whey powders and honey, oats, nuts, etc... I've made him shakes using the protein powders and frozen fruit and yogurt He loves the frozen sausage biscuits....We can get 24 biscuits, packaged 2 per, for about $6. They aren't an everyday thing...but, a nice change from the norm. Weird...I know...but, he loves Tuna Salad Pita's for breakfast too. Hot ham and cheese sandwiches. Recently, he's been taking ham slices and a couple of granola bars. In an ideal world he'd get a huge breakfast at home every morning....
  7. Okay....I think I see myself becoming more like you!! :iagree:
  8. Our Pediatrician pushes for at least 20 minutes per day...no sunscreen. Anyone else heard this one?
  9. :001_smile:I'm not even sure that I had a question...just wondering about opinions I guess.
  10. So.......do you find that this opinion gets stronger as you mature as a homeschooler? :D
  11. Sometimes I think it's more won't than can't....but, I'm in my opinionated week.;)
  12. :lol:I opened this thread fully prepared to tell you that you'll never find the right size they will either be too small or too big....it might be the right size one year and the wrong size the next..... How funny....I was right, and we weren't even talking about the same kinds of bookshelves.
  13. I've had manicures and pedicures, but, only because my mom was treating me. I was considering a spa day as a treat for finishing out the school year and getting a big project done. DH left the ball in my court.....I can't spend that money.....I'm too practical...But, if he bought the day for me and MADE me go, I could do it. Weirdo me huh?!?! So, I'm just sticking with my starbucks.:driving:
  14. So, it's possibly just a phase I'm going through? I'm okay with that. :D
  15. My husband Pretends that he doesn't like it when I belt those tunes....but I know better....he starts to worry if I don't do it often enough. he thinks I'm unhappy. I'm training my kids too. They know lots of songs. We sing loud in the car. :D But, we tone it down when Daddy is with us.....or when one of us isn't in the mood.:glare:
  16. Let me comfort you...having kids in the neighborhood is a mixed blessing.;)
  17. I'm going into my 5th year of Homeschooling....6th if you count K4....9th if you count birth on.... Until very recently, I've been "it's not for everyone" in my approach.....but, the more I do it, the more my kids grow, the more I see the blessings that are my family, the more that opinion shrinks and it's replaced with a bolder approach. Does this get worse as time goes on? Veteran homeschoolers....do you get bolder and more opinionated with AGE, or do you mellow with age?
  18. Thanks I needed it...I'm still trying to navigate here....
  19. I love the list....and I was impressed with myself that I knew what those abreviations meant, without having to read the definitions of most.... Where is that chest puffed with pride smilie when you need him? :D
