  1. We're a book family. I really like TT math and the DVDs in LFC but other than that I'd much rather we were reading an writing the old fashioned way.:)
  2. We do our independent subjects in the morning, each child on their own level doing their own thing. When everyone is done those we start on our group subjects like science, history, art appreciation, read alouds... Older dc read more advanced books, write longer narrations and maybe an essay while the younger dc to simpler things. We'll go on nature walks together and older dc are expected to have more detailed drawings in their nature journal than younger dc. I'll have older dc read to younger dc while I help another dc. I like to encourage family learning so we spend a lot of time together, reading, playing games, exploring, drawing, whatever but older dc are expected to everything on a higher level. Does that make sense?
  3. We use Daily Grams and Classical Writing, both starting in 3rd.
  4. We really like Fallacy Detective and Thinking Toolbox.
  5. In K we just explorer and read, no curriculum needed.:)
  6. We just pick up new words through what we read, playing Free Rice and looking for more interesting words in the thesaurus.
  7. I was looking for actual books, but thanks for the ideas, it gives me a place to start.:)
  8. I'm looking for biographies on biologists for all ages, if you could tell me some that would be great.:)
  9. I feel like such so stupid now. I looked on their site but could only see that they we're coming out in fall 08, but there is a list of courses right there!:banghead::banghead: Thanks ladies.:)
  10. This isn't a curriculum so it's probably not what you want but Free Rice is really fun.
  11. I really want to go, but can't because it's too far away and expensive and I'm busy. I hope you have fun!
  12. According to it I'm right side dominant but knowing me I'm considerably more left sided.
  13. :grouphug: (((Rose))) I hope your dog comes back.
  14. I got a similar thing a while back except it was about racing cars (not my thing). The cell phone company sorted it out.
  15. I want DD12 to do a formal literature study next year (8th) and I like the look of LL. She's read everything from LL8 and 7 so I think they might be boring. It's estimated that the next courses will come out this fall, but it could be later. Does anyone now of an LL like curriculum maybe for 9th (?) grade?
  16. We do 2-3 pages per day. I don't think you'd need the TM but we've only made it up to book 6 so far, no TM.
  17. We use Daily Grams. I love that we are able to do it daily because the lessons are nice and quick.

  20. You are so awesome! I feel like I've just had one of these: :chillpill: and the feeling is good. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.:)
  21. Thanks ladies! You've given me lots to think about.:)
  22. :banghead: I guess I've been missing the whole point of SP, I always thought it was just another "spell this list" curriculum. You've given me something to think about.:)
