  1. I just purchased Rosetta Stone French Level 1 for my 10 year old. We wont be starting it until May, but it seems like it will be good!
  2. Classical house of learning Literature http://www.classicalhouseoflearning.com/
  3. Rosetta Stone HS version is only 127 at Barns and Nobles. Not that pricey in my opinion.
  4. Thanks, I will check out that mango learning languages thing!
  5. My ODS (10) has never learned any language. We asked him what he wants to learn and he picked French. Is that doable? We think we want to use Rosetta Stone HS version. Does that sound good? Is Rosetta stone a good program for 6th graders (that is when we would start using it, he is currently in 5th)
  6. Ok this is what I have so far: Grammar: KISS grammar History: SOTW3 along with Classical house of learning Literature Math: TT6 Spelling: SWO G,H Writing: WWS level 1 Know I just need to pick a science and language. He wants a biology type science and I haven't asked him what language he wants to learn yet. Does this seem good?
  7. We like TT so this year we are going to do TT6, in 7th grade pre algebra and 8th grade algebra. My child is advanced at math though.
  8. I have seen a few threads stating they are using SOTW for 6th grade. We used V.1 last year and V2 this year in 5th grade. It seems way too young for my 10 year old. How do you make it more grade level approprate. Oh and I am using V1 this year with my girl in K and its right on her level with the work book and all.
  9. Thank you all for your opinions, you have given me a lot to think about!
  10. I am not dead set on either of those programs. I just do not enjoy peicing things together
  11. We used abeka for 1-2 with ODS and loved it. Granted he didnt do every single thing they sent, but he enjoyed it. I was hoping for more of a comparison.
  12. I am considering MFW or Abkea for dd for 1st grade. What are your thoughts on these programs?
  13. We love TT we have used levels 3,4, and now 5 and plan on getting them all the way through. My ds loves the format and I love that its totally self directed!
  14. my dd is doing K now. Most days we work for about an hour. We cover phonics/spelling/reading, math and history. I let her help me cook for science!!
  15. My ds is a natural at math and had already had the multiplication chart down prior to starting tt3. We are now using tt5 and love it still. He has always scored high and only ever missed 1-2 problems a lesson.
  16. Math and spelling are fine. We dont really have a grammer/english though. I was going to use Shirley English but I couldnt stand the format at all. So I need something for English, history and Science...I guess
  17. Its not working because there is too much pre planning on my part. Not only do I school my two older kids, I take care of my 2 year old PLUS I am going to college online as well. I am purchasing Abeka grade 1 for my dd for next year. But 6th grade and above kinda scare me. I cannot afford to spend close to 1000 on a full box set, plus I dont like abeka math. I dont know what I am looking for here, lol
  18. We always purchase our cirruculum with our tax return and since that is coming up soon I need to get this together. I am lost when it comes to middle school. DS is currently doing Teaching textbooks 5 Just finished Classic Life Science History is SOTW2 along with Classical house of learning literature Spelling Workout Random Grammer we have found when he needs a refresher. I have no clue what to do. I love the idea of a totally preplanned cirruculum but they are pricey. I need something that is fairly kid directed as I also have a 6 year old I am schooling as well as a 2 year old. Help please????
  19. We do about an hour a day 3-4 days a week
  20. Im using it along with the Usborne Encyclopedia for my 5th grader. Its just the right level of challenge for him.
  21. He has plenty of grammar knowledge just seems to have forgotten it all over the summer break and then with me not liking Shurly english he is forgetting more, lol. Thanks I ordered the Hake!
  22. Thanks for the link...when I tried to google, it came back with way too many things that had nothing to do with grammar.
