  1. No need to apologize. I see what you are saying, although I don't read it that way. Sometimes it just comes down to whether we trust that God is good, even when we don't get it all and think He owes us an explanation. This is what Job did. He trusted in God's character, even when nothing made sense. You're doubting God's character today. I think everyone does at some point, because at some point we all have stuff happen we don't get. Some things are just a matter of faith that only you and God can settle. I'm sorry you're in so much pain right now. :grouphug:
  2. Read the book of Job. All the way through. Seriously, this is where you are, this is where he was. Nothing anyone can say to you right now will truly provide any relief, just try to remember that most people mean well.
  3. Praying for your sister and your family. What you describe sounds like Hidradenitis Suppuritiva. If this is the disease your sister has I am glad your mother has not relayed the information from her friend, because her friend is mistaken. I have HS, and it can be hard to live with, but it is not life threatening on its own. Every doctor I have been to and all the information I have read has confirmed this. It does increase the risk of getting certain cancers. Many people find they can control it somewhat through diet and finding out what triggers an outbreak for them. If you do a search you will find more information that is both helpful and hopeful.
  4. I'm sorry, but this is not correct. You do not need the homeschooling packet from your board or the local educational service center. Mine, and many others, ask for a lot more information than the state requires you to give. I notify each year without any problems and never use the homeschooling packet. It is against the state law to require it. There is good information here. This is the form that I used for a few years without trouble and has only the information you need to supply on it. Tara is also correct. If you are doing OHVA you do not need to notify. It is considered a public school by the state.
  5. Being sad over your sin is normal, when the feelings of guilt drive you away from God, rather than to Him, you need to get some perspective and get your eyes off yourself and on to Christ. With the sadness, make sure you are thanking Jesus for His forgiveness too. Pour out your heart to him and then praise Him for His work in your life. I think Paul's perspective of himself helps. 1 Timothy 1 12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
  6. Psalm 42 always helps me. 1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?†4 These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go to the house of God under the protection of the Mighty One[d] with shouts of joy and praise among the festive throng. 5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. 6 My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar. 7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. 8 By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. 9 I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?†10 My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, “Where is your God?†11 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
  7. What if you added "racial" and "gender" to the list in the OP? To some it is just as offensive to consider their religion a possible "barrier to learning" as it would be when it comes to race or gender because it's a basic part of identity for them.
  8. We have hard water too, and putting 1/2 to 3/4 a cup of vinegar (either apple cider or white) in the rinse cycle and a dryer sheet in the dryer helped with this problem for us. When I can't be bothered to pay attention for the rinse cycle, I let the washer fill a little, put the vinegar in, then the clothes, then the detergent on top. It works, but not quite as well as waiting for the rinse cycle. I think the vinegar may affect the detergent a little when they're in there together. I am sure you can make your own dryer sheets also, but I haven't tried that yet. If you don't like the idea of a dryer sheet or dry yours on the line, the vinegar smell will disappear when the clothes are dry making your clothes pretty much odorless. I also missed the smell of commercial detergent and find the dryer sheet works well for a replacement.
  9. 2 Timothy 3:16&17 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
  10. I think the closest it gets is Romans 8 19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. I understand the implication here to be that all creation was enslaved and subject to death because of the fall since it is waiting to be set free also. I have heard some say that corruption can be interpreted also as decay.
  11. Genesis 3:22 And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” Revelation 2 7 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. Revelation 22 1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.
