  1. Thank you all again. I've done lots of reading this morning and have learned a lot. No, I most definitely do not want to run the risk of Lyme and all its possible complications. I will heed all your warnings like staying out of the sun, taking with food, staying upright after taking, avoiding dairy...going to find some S. Boulardii today...so I will be taking the first capsule this morning with my breakfast. Gulp. I am embarrassed being such a baby. :nopity:
  2. Thank you all. Yes, I have a lovely, very painful bulls-eye rash that has grown 4 times the original size in 2 weeks. She said I could wait a while longer to be accurately tested but in her opinion, based on all symptoms, I would test positive and I would need the medicine anyway, and it would be wiser to start treatment earlier than later. I guess I'll put my big girl panties on and start taking it tomorrow. I don't know much about Lyme's but I don't want it and I am so sorry for those here who have seen it occur in loved ones. I appreciate your support! Boo to ticks!
  3. I hesitantly saw a doctor today about a nasty tick bite. She said without a doubt it had all indications of heading toward Lyme's but is too early for tests to confirm it. She gave me a prescription for a bottle of Doxycyline. Of course I ran home and looked up side effects and I don't want to take it. Am I just being stupid? I hardly ever even take an aspirin. Yuck. Not happy!
  4. Praying for your peace and comfort, Rosie. I am so very sorry.
  5. Thanks so much. I am thinking of buying the main manual and really looking it over. I've been looking around for cheaper sources for some things. I saw that CBD sells the science booklets separately so maybe I could spread that expense through the year. I had also wondered if the living library could be omitted or gotten from the library. I want to support curriculum providers and still be able to feed my family, kwim? I think I have reached the point that I no longer want to reinvent the wheel with my curriculum planning. This looks very interesting, and after reading the 'sneak peeks' into her 10th grade plans, I really like the direction she is taking. I only have 4 years left (sobbing, yet dancing for joy!) so I want to enjoy them without all the planning that tends to frustrate my old mind. ;)
  6. I was taken aback with the expense of the entire program but am curious about it. Thanks!
  7. Thank you. There is one bathroom downstairs and it has 2 doors that open to both our bedroom and to the hallway. There is a bathroom upstairs with a tub/shower. I want to make our little house as lovely as possible and appealing. I think the shower base seems like a good idea but I was worried it would put some people off or look too utilitarian. I don't want to upset the ones who like to soak in bubbles.
  8. ...and the downstairs bathtub needed replacing, would you replace it with another regular tub or a low-to-the-ground shower base? Which would look better and seem more updated? I plan to tile the walls. Thank you!
  9. Thank you. We are still researching, and it is still clear as mud. I feel like my head is going to burst. So far the best I can decipher is, since the scholarship was given as a lump sum and not given specifically for room and board (which is taxable), the amount is tax-free. I think.
  10. Although our taxes were filed last month, dd's little pile of tax papers was sitting on my desk and I noticed them this morning. She hardly had any income (less than $1,000 from a little summer job) but she got a tax form from the university for a partial amount of a scholarship she received (over $12,000 for the fall semester). Does she need to file a tax form or not? I've searched the internet in vain for an answer. Thanks so much for any help.
  11. Thank you all, ladies! It's just so wonderful to watch your child being showered with blessings!
  12. I've shared here from time to time about Lindsey since she graduated from our homeschool and went on to college (first a CC and now at a university). Here is some recent news that we are all very excited about! Our girl continues to work hard and make us so very proud! http://hollins.edu/news2/?p=2332
  13. Y'all are absolutely hilarious, and I love feeling at home here...where I will not be ignored. ;)
  14. I'm thinking about buying more types of seeds for this year's little garden, and hopefully expanding with several more square foot beds. Maybe I'm inspired by the prepper shows I've been seeing lol, but I am wondering what plants would be the wisest to plant in smaller spaces. Which veggies would yield the best harvest for fresh eating and preserving. And heaven forbid, if the economic sky falls one day, what would keep my family fed if we had to depend on it to afford to eat well. I would love to know which plants and seeds you feel are vital to your successful gardening season!
  15. From our local news: http://m.wdbj7.com/slideshows/amanda-knox-again-found-guilty-in-roommates-murder/-/20129434/24193426/-/ckt5qpz/-/index.html
  16. I was just wiping tears away after watching a commercial for SPCA kitty adoption! I have been encouraged by using Rescue Remedy chews by Bach flower essence when in stressful situations. They really do help me feel more balanced and in control.
  17. Thank you all. I should say that we own this car and do not owe anything, and hold the title. So I was going to make a fuss of how terrifying it was to know Dh could have plunged down the ravine (true) and point out every little scratch, but Dh seems to want to make light of it (he is embarrassed I guess!) so does anything we say make a difference? I feel stupid, I just don't want the adjuster to give us a check for $1,000 and haul my car away! I know I am over-thinking...
  18. My Dh slid on ice coming up our road, backed into a tree and shattered the back window and dented the back hatch door. The adjuster comes tomorrow. He may give us reimbursement for repairs. If he 'totals' it, what does that mean? Would he only give the blue book value for it, because it is an old but dependable car that we couldn't replace for that low an amount. Does it matter what I say?
  19. Thanks. I noticed a difference in the fonts between my computer and my iPad, so I'm not sure yet how to remedy that. I also realized I hadn't yet listed the Well Trained Mind on my favorites. Goodness.
  20. Oh, you have to try zinnias! Beautiful mixed colors and easy to grow. :)
  21. Thank you all! I'll keep learning how to make improvements!
