  2. What are your opinions in regards to "Ring of Fire" Earth Science Kits? I am looking at 2 levels.... Grades 3-6 (I) Level (II) Middle School/High School. What is the difference between these? How hands on in nature are they? I have a middle schooler and a 3rd grader. Thanks! Kelley
  3. Bravo ASL is supposed to be good.... Kelley
  4. Have you checked out Handwriting Without Tears? They have 2 books for extra practice for the older student. 1 printing and 1 cursive. There is not a grade printed on the cover. Kelley
  5. Do you use the program as a stand alone, or do you feel the need to supplement? Thanks! Kelley
  6. I was just curious what your opinions were in regards to the commentary for Time Traveler's History Studies? Are the commentaries for each lesson engaging? Thanks! Kelley
  7. Thanks for all of the replies! So, which books are considered Pre-Algebra? I do not mind you hijacking the thread, it allows for more discussion and questions that I may not have thought of. Also, is this program mainly a supplement? If so, how do you schedule it in when your daughter really doesn't like math to begin with.:001_huh: We have used singapore (K-4) and BJU (5-7). Kelley
  8. I will search the boards after the kiddos go to sleep. thanks for the hint.;) Kelley
  9. how is it used? Is is purely supplemental? Thanks! Kelley
  10. Geomatters, the one who publishes Trail Guides have corresponding Cd-roms for notebook pages for each course. It has all of the daily drill questions, maps to color, vocabulary pages, and other types of things to make a beautiful geography notebook. I highly recommend the CD-rom if you decide to go with that course. Kelley
  11. Thanks everyone for all of your replies... Enjoy your weeekend!:) Kelley
  12. I have a 7th grader and a 2nd grader. I have all of my oldest daughter's work from Kindergarten on up. How far back do you keep all of those workbooks, etc....:001_huh: We live in Michigan if that matters in what I should do. Thanks! Kelley
  13. Study Link....??? I guess I didn't get it?? I got Rick Rolled??? Kelley
  14. I too believe that one has to look at the individual. (What works in the given situation.) My daughter for example at this point wants to either pursue becoming a dance instructor, sign language interpretor, or cosmetologist. None of these degrees requires advanced math. Therefore I believe that TT has its place. Perhaps not for engineers, but for a "regular" student, it may be just fine. We have tried Singapore and BJU we have succeeded in both programs, but I feel that they are not the perfect fit for my daughter. My youngest son (age 8) on the other hand when he gets up to that level, may be a different story. He picks up math concepts with very little instruction from me, my daughter is a different story. So, I think that one really has to look at the individual needs of their children and try our best to fulfill them. That after all is the beauty of home education.:D By the way, I am fascinated reading everyone's opinions. ;) Kelley
  15. I wholeheartedly agree with Peela:iagree: We start school about 8:15 and at the very latest finish about 1:00. My daughter is very determined to plow through her work and complete it prior to her busy schedule. My daughter has dance 4 nights a week. She also has a choir practice requirement at home daily for our co-op. She has to study her ballet, for she has to take ballet exams. She is also in another choir for "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat" We also attend a weekly co-op. She definately needs some down time before for additional activities. Kelley
  16. Just finished reading Kelli's post. I enjoyed reading it. My daughter "loves" needlework class. I hold it each month in my home. She loves hanging out with her girlfriends and I enjoy laughing:lol: and talking with the girls as I teach them something that they can use the rest of their lives. This class has been very dear to my heart. I have enjoyed getting to know my daughter's friends. I just wanted to make a survey and get a feel for how to "improve" it for the following year. (though I feel that it went well, it is good to have comments from others). I feel that this is just one way to "give" to others. ;) Kelley
  17. Thanks a bunch Josie! So sorry that Kelly is worn out from her 4-H experience. Kelley
  18. I didn't see Kelly in TN's post.... I really enjoyed teaching this class. I came up with the idea to do it on my own since the co-op we attend decided not to offer it favor of more "academic" courses. I chose the day and time to fit my very busy schedule due to being a widow and my daughter's very busy dance class schedule (4 nights a week). I had no other time to give, other than what I offered. Unfortunately, these Mom's are Needlework deficient.... We also had a snack time in the middle of the 2 hours. This was rotated between the girls in the class. These girls are such a joy to teach...my daughter has great friends! I wish I had such good friends when I was growing up. Thanks for the ideas. I would love to read Kelly from TN post. I do not know how to search for it. Thanks! Kelley
  19. What questions should I pose on my survey? Here is what I have: (wording is not accurate, just ideas so far) What did you enjoy? What did you not enjoy? What projects did you feel were too difficult? What are your opinions in regards to the format of each class? Did you feel that meeting once a month for 2 hours was suitable? Would you like to take Intermediate Needlework next year? Thanks for any ideas, Kelley
