  1. I realize all of the perks of college. I went to college... I just realize that not everyone has that desire. I guess "I had to go to college" there was no option... I want to provide that option for my children. It is a "not have to situation".... I still school if they were to go to college, but I realize it is not up to me if they attend college or not. God has many different plans for all of us. Kelley
  2. I guess I look at it differently. I appreciate how everyone desires their children to go to college. But, college isn't for everyone. Your job is just a way to provide for your "needs" and "desires". What good is it if you are not happy with the job that you have? I look at things differently, for I have seen the results of my late husband (now deceased) not liking his job. I only want my children to be happy. If their career (love) doesn't require a degree, so be it. Making the "big bucks" doesn't make one happy, though it makes life easier. I believe that God has different plans for each of our children, and as a parent I cannot make that decision, but only help, support, and guide my children. Kelley
  3. I inquired and it is supposed to come out in March. Kelley
  4. I am starting to research for the High School years. We prefer learning our History through literature. I am looking for something that is engaging and easy to implement. Thanks! Kelley
  5. Jodi, Thank you so much for posting your experience. I agree, in the fact that it depends on overall temperament and perhaps breed qualities. So far we are having a real good experience. It is nice to hear from someone who has something positive to say. Many blessings to you! Kelley
  6. This response could have occurred because my children were asking her opinion of adopting two puppies from the same litter. Our Vet has a lot of pets!! She takes in rescue animals. Same with our groomer, she also has a lot of pets! Our Breeder was just on Animal Planet Dogs 101 for their collies. So she is nationally known. Our puppies are very mellow and cuddly. We are always handling them. They have very little interaction with each other. One of them actually likes to sleep with me, while the other is content in his crate. I just pray that they continue to be snuggle bugs. Even though that it is double the work in the beginning, I pray that all of this individualized attention will provide a successful outcome. I think that since we are home all day, that we have time to work with each pup, compared to families that are at school and work all day. I have trusted God and will continue to do so throughout this season in our lives. As a Widow, I have had to Trust Him completely, and we prayed over our puppies. kelley
  7. I appreciate everyone's insight...I enjoy reading everyones experience. It is hard to believe that my little snugglers could cause trouble. We already treat them as individuals from the very start. They spend 90% of the day apart.... Kelley
  8. What we have done with our 2 shih poo pups.... Separate kennels, Separate rooms, Separate feeding bowls, Separate play times, separate snuggle times. They do NOT sleep together. Monitored playtime with each other (very short bursts) These pups are snuggle bugs and love to cuddle with us (human family). Each of my kids is taking on the responsibility in caring for each pup and playing with each one separately. I am hoping that these actions will help them stand on their own and continue to bond with us.. Kelley
  9. What has been your experience? Any advice? We are looking at lapdogs (shih-poo). Our vet says it is better to adopt 2. Thanks! Kelley
  10. Hope that you don't mind me bumping this up. Kelley

  12. Thanks Allene! Those books look neat! I looked them up on the 4-H national website. We may try those. My children are very excited to adopt their puppies. I wish it weren't going to be so cold next week, since that is their 1st week home!!! Kelley
  13. Hi Allene, You have been helpful. That unit sounds neat. What is the name of the 4-H book? What is that like? Thanks! Kelley
  14. I was curious what your thoughts were on this unit study. I have a 3rd and 8th grader. Could you give a synopsis of this study? We are adopting 2 shih-poo puppies this weekend. Thanks! Kelley
  15. I thought that I would take advantage of getting new puppies:lol: and have a unit study. Is there a unit study that is appropriate for both a 3rd grader and 8th grader? Thanks! Kelley
