  1. Well, we drove the Nissan NV today and really liked it. It's a little big for us but we could travel without two cars and have plenty of space and it's cheaper than the Yukon xl and suburban. We shall see....
  2. I guess my train of thought when I said no car seats was no monster Britax seats which they all had when they were younger. So, if it makes anyone feel any better in order to comment on what car you enjoy or would get to accommodate such a large group, please note that I do follow the law and the recommendations on car seats, have always been a stickler when it comes to making sure they are followed, and I have no desire to put my kids in any danger.   Now...if we can proceed.... :driving: :driving: :driving:
  3. Not that I feel like I have to explain myself, but we are in boosters, not large car seats, which I think makes a difference in seating configuration.
  4. By larger, which do you mean? Would anyone feel silly driving a 12 passenger with 5 kids? Is that excessive? Is all that cargo space worth driving such a large vehicle? I've got in my list anywhere from a sienna to a Nissan nv to a Chevy passenger van 😂
  5. Title says it all. We have a Quest now that needs replaced. I'd love more space but don't know if the increased price tag is worth it. Thoughts? I've got it narrowed down to about 8 different things to look at LOL. Kids are 10,9,8,6,5 if it matters. No car seats!
  6. The hotel across from the high school is new and right off the freeway. There are not any restaurants or shopping right there but you don't have to.go far to get there.
  7. Are you going through N Little Rock? It sounds like it. Any of the hotels off of the McCain exit are great.
  8. The guest hollow American history is free and you could use their cw suggestions. Also homeschool in the woods has a great cw unit.
  9. Title is self explanatory. Does anyone know of any literature guides online for 4th gradeish? Similar to MP or VP?
  10. Does anyone know if there is an app or someway that I can create lesson plans for my kids and then send them to their Kindle Fires? I would like to incorporate links to follow, pictures, videos, etc. TIA
  11. we use their history for my k through 4th graders and love it.
  12. I might not be the one to ask LOL. I try to go as much as I can to the early morning class. If I'm incredibly sore I skip that day, if I'm not I go. Some people probably push through, but since I'm so out of shape I don't want to over due it.
  13. I crossfit and love it. I'm overweight and out of shape and it pushes me incredibly hard, but I keep going back. I have to take more days off to recover than most but I hope that improves with time. Our coach is great at modifying and really teaching form.
  14. My Dad is getting married next week and I know I need to get a gift for him and his wife to be but I am at such a loss. They are middle aged, been living g together previously, both married before, the most "non fancy" people I know. I'm drawing a blank. What would you? All I can come up with is a restaurant gift card and I just don't feel like that is good enough.
  15. I like the idea of the toffee. Thanks y'all! As far as the gift cards, one of the reasons I don't do that is because 30 people would be $150! I can make something for a lot less. Plus I just don't feel like it is as personal. I guess I could always make something nonfood related.
  16. We have over 30 people that we try to make a small package of goodies for every year at Christmas. I am trying to make my list of items now and wondered what your favorite Christmas treat would be? It can not be messy so it can be packaged and gifted. So far I have the Oreo truffles and crockpot peanut clusters. What else? Id like at least one more. And just for fun...does anyone NOT like receiving homemade treats as a gift? If someone wanted to give you a small gift but had a limited budget, what would you rather receive? (we are talking teachers, coworkers, neighbors, etc-along those lines)
  17. We got our diffuser from our local chiropractor and get oils from Rocky Mountain Oils. I've been pleased and they have free shipping.
  18. Adoptive mom with a kid with RAD here. While I think some very good points have been addressed, I agree with this whole heartedly.
  19. We like it with marinara or with butter, salt, and pepper..
  20. I am in this mood this morning where I feel like either my kids have either been slacking terribly or I am just expecting too much. So, to redeem myself or my children, I thought I would come to the Hive to see what your morning routine looks like? I know that one of the beauties of homeschooling is not being tied to the clock, however if I do not have some sort of plan, my 5 children will sit around and play all morning and we would never get started if left to their own devices. So, in an effort to reign that in a little, I try to stick to a routine in the morning. Everyone is up on their own by 7. I allow them to lay around and get woke up but would like to have everything ready to begin school by 8:30. That means they should be dressed and all personal hygiene addressed (hair, teeth, lotion, etc), their beds should be made, one small morning chore completed, and breakfast ate. Breakfast is always ready and on the table by 7:30 and their is ample time to get all of this done. What is happening instead and is increasingly getting worse is that they are not getting any of this done because they are playing, goofing off, etc. They "forget" that their hair needs to be combed or their bed needs to be made, yada yada. So then I feel like I turn into a nag which I do not want to do at all constantly reminding them what they have left to do. I've tried checklists, they are on the fridge, and they get ignored as well. I do not in any way want to paint my kids in a bad light. They are great kids, I think they are just taking advantage of being home and dont think they "have to" be ready. And hopefully I do not sound like I am being unreasonable either, but I am open for advice! What does your morning routine include? Do you have a routine, chores, etc? Do you have consequences if those things are not done? Etc...Etc...I'm all ears!
  21. I really like the sticker books and have purchased several of their illustrated classics. They are very good quality books. The encyclopedias are great for school.
  22. In our area the kids fill out wish lists. They normally ask for the same stuff a lot of teens do, electronics, etc
  23. Im not really sure who Joanne is, maybe you can give me some insight. However, I just want to point out that I am not in any way sitting on my butt not doing anything, if that is what you were implying. I dont "tolerate" this behavior either, hence why I came here for advice.
