  1. My dd7 is an upcoming 2nd grader. She was in ps for 1st. I'm wondering where to start her in FLL? She knows what nouns & verbs are...but that's about it. I see there's some review in FLL 2 but it doesn't seem like that much. While looking through FLL1, there's a lot of good stuff in there that I think she could really benefit from. Should I just go through FLL1 at a fast pace? Do you think we'll be burned out by the time it comes to do FLL2? Thanks!
  2. oops! Sorry! That's what I meant! I have both PP and RP...and of course wrote the wrong one:)
  3. That's EXACTLY what we do...I start with the first page, then we take turns from there. I would say we have been doing that for about 4-5 months now. If she hasn't picked it up yet, would it be maturity?? Or something we need to work on in a different way? She just turned 7 last month. Thank you!
  4. My DD7 has some trouble with reading. She just ended her 1st grade year at the ps. She seems to me to be very 'choppy' when reading. She doesn't pause in the correct places and just seems to mesh all the sentences together. She does read chapter books, however, I just think that she would enjoy them more if she could be a little more fluent. Her comprehension is fine. What are my choices to help her with fluency?
  5. I'm wondering the same thing....could you use BOTH AAS1 and PR1 together? Or would that be too much?
  6. Yeah...I'm thinking our high chair is going to be moved into the school room soon:) Strap him down and feed him...it's about the only thing that works for us:tongue_smilie: Boys never. stop. moving.
  7. Thinking along the lines of this... http://www.amazon.com/Jumbo-Easy-Grip-Pegs-Pegboard/dp/B0007PC952/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1308941047&sr=8-7 My boys love to hit stuff;)
  8. I'm in the process of doing the same thing for my 20-month-old little boy. Right now some things I am thinking of: -Lacing beads -Peg boards -magna tiles -Sorting games -Lacing boards -objects to put in muffin baking tins....like those colorful pom-poms you use for crafts...only have him sort them into the right color tin. he'll use tongs to help with fine motor. -I found a nail board activity at learning resources. I *know* my boys would love this. Plastic hammer, plastic nails, and a board. I just have to justify spending $30 on it. I'm looking for something cheaper somewhere else. I'll be following this thread for more ideas!
  9. Although I haven't used it yet, I just received RSO Life in the mail today and am REALLY liking the looks of it! I think my kids are going to love it!
  10. I'm thinking of getting a timeline to go along with SOTW 1. Does anyone know of a good one? Would the History Odyssey timeline work? Thanks in advance!
  11. Thank you for the help! I'm not sure why I had such a hard time figuring it out! I went ahead and ordered...ouch$$$! The second abacus qualified me for free shipping though!:001_smile:
  12. I'm rather confused on just what I need for Rightstart. I'm wanting A & B for my DD and DS. Any thoughts on what is needed? Thanks!
  13. We're getting ready to start it next week! It looks really good so far!
  14. I'm wondering when you start AAS? Do you wait until they can read? My DS5 knows his letters/sounds and CVC words. Do I start now or do I wait until he can actually read? I wasn't going to do it with him...just my DD, but I see a lot of threads with children in k doing this. Thanks!
  15. Ohhh...I like it! Thanks for sharing!
  16. Thank you Angela! Just stumbled upon your blog the other day...Love it! We're planning a lot of the things you're using or have used already!:)
  17. What are the best 'open & go' curriculum's that you used for your 2nd grader and k-er? Any subject please!
  18. Thank you for the advice! I think I really have to just try something first before deciding on switching to something else. I do have the Math Mammoth download for grades 1-3, so I will probably try Abeka and Math Mammoth over the summer and see which one seems to work better for them. If neither of them work, then maybe I will try RightStart or MUS.
  19. I'm thinking grade 2 for my dd. My ds will be starting K. I'll have to look into TT...I think I did before, but if I remember it didn't start until later grades? Yeah, I really 'liked' the idea of Abeka, but now looking at it, I don't think it will work for any of them:tongue_smilie:
