  1. My husband once washed a pair of my cashmere pants and dried in hot setting and they became my 7 year olds' pants. They shrunk about 50% so be careful with temperature setting on hot water. I would air dry. I had washed my pants in the washer before but usually used cold and woolite. I always air dried.
  2. I get Allyou emails and they have a coupon for buy one get one free Oliveri olive oil and it states only at Walmart but in the past I thought walmart didn't take computer printed coupons. Last time I tried using a coupon which was about this time last year cashier told me they didn't take them. I havent been to Walmart since December. I don't shop there often not close to me just wondering if it was just my Walmart. I hate to waste ink if they won't take coupons. Diana
  3. Thank you for all your answers. I have a collection of science books that should work I don't know why i didn't think about that.
  4. We do the same have not had cable in 4 years. We have our computer connected to our flat screen through an HDMI cord that is how we see Netflix. Some shows are available we still see some AMC and FX shows via Hulu, fancast, etc. Most shows you see after they have played like a week later but that doesn't bother me. In most cases you also get less commercials.
  5. I am considering buying RSO Life or Earth but was wondering if it required lots of extra books? I searched the forum but most say you have to look at the curriculum which I don't own yet or the website which I tried but seem to be overlooking. I saw the material list but don't see a recommended booklist? Does someone have a link? Thanks ahead for your answers. Diana
  6. FYI, I just found out that if you buy the CD and it turns out not to work for you it can be resold. If you buy the download you can't so that is something to consider if you are not to sure it will work out for your family. This is what I read in an other blog.
  7. Because it's on sale I was considering the CD or download there is a link in an older post sale ends 3/31. I don't know what would be better. I prefer print just my preference but will probable go with download. I am just afraid of virus problems I have to keep a few copies around in case one gets damaged. I know I have had computers crash on me and pictures, programs lost. I know better to get extra copies.
  8. Dd has been doing well with AO Horizons Math1 but I like the way math is taught in MM. I think she would have a better understanding instead of just going through the motions. I know it's on sale but I have read threads where many people supplement MM with others curriculum is MM complete ? I also see that they offer the light blue series, blue, gold, etc. I want to be sure I understand it correctly the light blue is considered a complete curriculum does it last a whole year? Do you have to supplement it with the other workbooks? Does anyone use it as their sole math curriculum? Is it enough practice? Anyone switched from Horizons to MM? Any changes to expect? Thanks for your response. Diana

  11. Thank you I checked out the blog it was very detailed. This has helped. I had bad science teachers growing up. What I have learned from science I have had to learn on my own. I would like my dd to have a better understanding. I don't know if this is right for me I still have more to research. Thanks again.
  12. I just read about this and was wondering how complete it is. It's got great reviews on Amazon but I was wondering does it give you detailed lesson plans or are you left having to do alot of the that. Could someone explain how they used it? What they liked or disliked about it? Thanks
  13. My 7 year dd is about to finish Alpha Omega Horizon Phonics/Reading 1st Grade. We used it also for kinder and my dd seem to be enjoy the worksheets and readings and I thought understanding the phonics. We do the readings included and read various other 1st and 2nd grade readers but I notice as we get to reading more complex words she seems to have a hard time decoding them. The rules didn't stick. Now I am trying to see what would be a good curriculum for 2nd grade that help review what we learned. I am definetly not going to stick with Horizons. Thanks for your suggestions.
  14. It would be somewhere in the Albuquerque area not sure where yet?
  15. I have look into AAS and there are lots of blogs out there supporting the use but the company has a payment program for people who share their experience about it. I was just wondering if anyone had a difference of opinion? I just want to be sure I do my research. I have wasted my fair share on not-that-great curriculum. Thank for your input.
  16. I currently live in TX and we don't have a state tax just wondering how does that work out? About what is the percentage ? Do you have to pay school taxes there? We do and it's based on property value do you pay that ? I am just trying to evaluate if this is a good idea considering we are a single income family. Thanks,
  17. anyone from this area I know there are a few from SA but most are north New Braunfels area. I have a dd 7yrs old.
  18. Have you tried the following site www.cathyduffyreview.com she reviews some books and has a link to a site with lots of free lapbooks and ideas.
  19. I am planning 2nd grade curriculum and for anyone that has used AAS is it really necessary to begin at Level 1? Is teachers guide nessary? I have not used a formal spelling program until now. My dd seems to pick up on spelling okay but she does need a program. She reads at grade level but she does forget the phonics rules sometime when pronouncing unfamiliar words. I am also wondering if there are other favorite spelling programs that teach spelling rules?
  20. I used How to Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons along with AO Horizons Phonics and it helped my daughter read much faster than phonics alone.
