  1. No thoughts. Just wishing you a wonderful time with your kids. :001_smile:
  2. OK, so after reviewing, I'm wondering if it would be good to do WWE (not sure which level) along with WWW to help with some composition. We are planning on putting him back in PS in 7th or 8th grade.
  3. I'm interested in WWW. I'm just wondering what level to start with.
  4. I would be intererested in hearing if it would be best to start with WWW4?
  5. Does WWE just do dictation or do they teach about how to form paragrahs and write stories?
  6. Can I get feedback? I just need something that teaches him sentance structure, how to write paragraphs, stories etc. I'm doing CLE for LA plus Winston Grammar for additional grammar help. I'm not good at writing myself so I'm nervous about grading his work. Please, please, please help with ideas. I know he needs to learn how to write. He's in 5th grade. I pulled out of PS this year. Thanks :001_smile: I've looked a little at: Meaningful composition Writing Strands WWE - only looks to be dictation and not how to write. Write Shop HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. The regular family pass is $79 which includes other science museums. I'm going to get the one that also can give us admission to the Children's museums. I put less than 100 in the poll though. Both include all family members under age 21 and zoo and science reprocity. The only difference is I also wanted to include the children's museum because we have one close that I want to go to.
  8. I'm so glad to hear this. I was feeling guilty for this same thing. I bought CLE LA & Math for one of my sons and he really didn't like it. I used ABEKA in the past and so I sold my CLE and got ABEKA for math and LA and kind of felt bad because everyone on here said so many negative things about it. I decided that it worked great for my older kids so it couldn't be too bad. Funny thing is he is really liking the ABEKA and I am too. Now, I might go to Bob Jones because it heard it is better than ABEKA but for now, I have the answer books already so there's less I have to buy. Thank you for your post. I'm glad I'm not the only one :001_smile:. PS. Still contemplating switching my 5th grader's math from CLE to Saxon (which I used in the past). Maybe I'll wait til next year.
  9. Do I need a teacher's book for anything? Or just the $12 student workbook?
  10. Thanks so much. So I'm assuming I get the WWE 4 student workpages. What else do I need to get?
  11. This is my first year of HSing my 5th grader and I need a good writing program for him. I'm terrible at writing so I need something that will really help me along. So many people on this forum use WWE that i want to check it out. Would i need WWE or Writing with skill? Any advice is welcome.
  12. I do also. Hope you find what you need soon. I just sold my CLE math 1. Didn't have all of it though. Keep looking maybe something will pop up soon.
  13. I'm an Ohio homeschooler. It's not bad. I just have to notify my school of what I'm going to do at the beginning of each year. It is for informational purposes only. I don't need their approval or permission. I have form I send in along with a typwritten list. It is as simple as: Child's name Math - Christian Light education Language Arts - Christian Light education Science - Apologia Swimming animals Reading - Library resources etc........ You don't need to give a full explaination. Then at the end of the year you need to either give a standardized test or have them assessed. Then you turn the results in the next school year with your information. There is a christian school near me that does standardized testing for homeschoolers at the end of the year so there might me something like that near you. If you have any questions feel free to ask :001_smile:
  14. I like this!! Just going to the crayola site, how did you get to the maps?
  15. What is your favorite creative writing program for a 10 year old. I'm horrible at writing so I need as much help as I can get. I need to be budget minded so something like IEW is out of the question.
  16. I'm not one who likes to go by the teachers manual and read verbatim for the early years. But I definitely did with CLE LA1. I would get it.
  17. I need to get a composition program for my 5th grader. I need something that is less teacher intensive since writing is not my strong suit. What do like or recommend? If you've used any or all of these tell me what you like or don't like and why? Thanks.
  18. I have a 5th grader that loves to write and draw. I am not good at it, however. Can I have some ideas of good programs for me to use with him that won't break our budget? I'm not sure if I should call it creative writing or not. I need somethink that'll help teach him the proper way to write and form paragraph's etc. Not grammar. I have that already.
  19. Good question. My son loves timez attack and has been asking me to buy the upgrade. I think it's too expensive though.
  20. When they get done with their work. I don't think it's about how much time they spend it's about learning and doing their work. People are still in public school mode when they are concerned about the time. In school, when a child is done with their work they have to wait for everyone to be done or wait until the alloted time for the class to be over. At home, when my children are done with one subject they move on to the next. Therefore, we don't have all the wasting of time and they get their work done much quicker. This is the beauty of homeschooling. This gives so much more time for them to expore and be kids.
  21. I had to address this issue also this week. I'm HSing 4 at the time. My 5th grader and a 1st, K, pre-K (because he want to do school :D). I decided to have "center time" with my younger 3 because they need more focused Mom time. While I'm working with one child, one is on laptop playing educational games like starfall and the other is looking at books or coloring. Then I rotate so all get Mom time and all get computer time (because they love that). I did this on Thurs and Friday and it worked so much better than all 3 at the table at the same time needing me at the same time.
