  1. I've been looking at EE also (standard version) and wondered the same thing. The entire sample lesson is silent, no audio. Can someone help here? Thanks-
  2. I just saw Sci Fusion on Rainbow Resource and that led me to checking post on WTM forums. It looks really promising! My visual learner might really do well with it. I was wondering, I have two younger dc (8 yo & 11 yo - 3rd & 5th), I was thinking of getting Grade 4 Science Fusion for both dc (save $$). How do I order two textbooks/workbooks? HSBC only allows pkg purchase - I can't buy a second text. Anyone know how to do this? (Btw, on RR website it's the same, you can only purchase by pkg) Thanks for your help!
  3. Thanks for the post. For Noeo, not sure what level to buy? I think Level 2 would work for both. But the Usborne Internet Linked Science Encyclopedia is the spine text and it is a little hard for my 11 yo to undertand, wish there was another spine. We have used LOF as a supplement in the past (LOF Frac & Dec & Pcts) I'll definitely look into this program! Thanks! Thank you for your help!
  4. Hi all, School year is approaching FAST and I'm in search of a fun, hands-on physics curriculum for my 8 yo & 11 yo (3rd & 5th grades)? They enjoy reading living books and hands on experiments (that work! lol). I would prefer a package curriculum rather than piecing something together. Thanks so much for the help!
  5. I received a pamphlet in the mail awhile back about Debra Bell's new AIM Academy and online classes (english, science, history, languages, pre-AP, AP) I was wondering if anyone had experience with the English (creative writing, intro to lit, and pre-AP Eng) classes? Pros/Cons, well organized, overall impressions. Thank you!
  6. Thanks! I looked into La Clase Divertida high school spanish classes and sent them an email a few days back to see if they still had availability as only one time slot works with dd's schedule. But haven't heard back. Are they good about returning emails/calls?? Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the post. Did you use HSA as the spanish curriculum or supplement? I have no barometer what the text is like (hs level?) b/c its their own worksheets? Did your dc take it for 1 yr or is continuing with them? Thanks so much!
  8. I was wondering if anyone has taken their Spanish I or II classes? Or know anyone who has taken the course? I'm trying to find an online spanish class for dd (and we already have the required books at home). What is their interface? I didn't see prices by the course descriptions - where should I be looking? Thanks!
  9. How much time was required for Omni I (primary)? It looks like a lot of reading. Thanks!
  10. Hi all- Anyone use Homeschool Spanish Academy for full-time spanish (not as supplement). What did you think? Was it rigorous enough - I can't tell since they use their own materials? I'm trying to find an nline Spanish class (Spanish 1) for dd this fall. Any recommendations would be very helpful (along w/teacher preferences!) Thanks SO much!
  11. Hi All, Dd wants to take AP Calc AB this fall. Math is not her favorite subject and she isn't a 'mathy'. But, nonetheless wants to take the course. Dd needs a teacher that has good lectures (if live), notes, explainations and is accessible for questions. I was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations for online AP Calc AB course? (and why you thought it was a good class) Thank you all for your help!
  12. Thank you all for posting! After reading the comments, I am definately leaning towards dd taking AP Calc AB (not Calc at cc), especially what she went through this year with Bio at cc. Do you all have any good recommendations for AP Calc AB (online)? I'll also post this question as a new thread... Thank you all very much!
  13. Help! I need some advice. My dd will be a junior this fall and wants to go into a STEM major (Biology w/genetic research) and would like to try to get into a selective college. She wants to take 4 APs next year (she took 3 this year) along with Chem 101 & 102 at cc, Spanish 2 & 3 at cc (fall/spring semesters), and she'll continue with Mandarin Chinese lessons with local tutor. This fall, dd has signed up for AP Eng Lit, AP US Hist, AP Econ with PA homeschoolers. Though math is not her fav subject and she is not a mathy kid, she wants to take AP Calc AB, because she wants to be competitive for trying to get into a selective college. But, I wonder which would look better on a transcript? - AP Calc AB (either PAH or Derek Owens or Potters school) or Calc I & II at cc (fall/spring)?? The advantage of doing it at cc is she would have a live teacher, but the course will go very fast (something she is worried about). Another option, she could take cc courses then study for AP Calc AB on her own, but she is concerned prof may not cover all AP material (that's what happened this year with Bio at cc, prof didn't cover 1/3 of the text, and dd had to independently study it all and prep for AP. She was very disappointed with lazyness of prof. Prof didn't even complete syllabus). Also, with math being her least favorite subject I fear she will leave it for the last thing to study for if she were to study AP Calc on her own (if she did calc at cc). She desires to take AP Calc to show mastery of content. (cc curriculums vary so much) Has anyone any advice on this??? Would it "look" better to selective colleges to have AP Calc AB designation or Calc I & II at cc? Has anyone take Calc at cc and then taken Calc AP exam? Any help would be great!!! I'm really confused! :tongue_smilie:
  14. Sorry, no answers for you, but wondering the same question!!! Hope you get some responses...
  15. Thank you very much for your help! I'll contact Senor Gamache and ask him. I also have to see if the evening time will work for my dd.. she has soccer practice most evenings .. :-( Hopefully we can make it work. Thanks again, Sangita
  16. Hi Elinor, I've been reading these posts as our young son is very interested in learning French ever since we visited Montreal, Canada last year. How did you locate a tutor living in France? Is there a website for this? I'm very interested in doing something similar with my son. I know BTB is for older students (my son is going into 3rd grade). Are there any programs you would recommend for elementary age? (and then progress to BTB & Carnegie's open courseware) Thanks so much for your help, Sangita
  17. Thank you for your insight. I was wondering, did you first go through the entire WIlson text (and took notes) then start reading the Princeton Review study guide and then did the FRQs? Just wondering what sequence you would recommend.. Thank you again Sangita BTW, do you remember the name of the Wilson text?
  18. Dana, Thanks SO much for the resopnse about La Clase Divertida - Money is tight right now, so I was surprised to see how expensive the textbook is ($172). Do you know if can be purchased used anywhere? Also, how do you entire the online classroom? Skype, or WebEx or something else? Thanks SO much for your help! Sangita
  19. Did is taking APUS History in the fall at PAH. She is wanting to take AP US govt alongside because there will overlap of historical information and she thinks it will be a good reinforcement for each other. But, I've heard mixed reviews about PAH APGovt teacher. Is there any other online providers you would recommend for AP US Govt? Or a syllabus/text you'd recommend for self-teaching it? I would prefer outsourcing if the cost is within our budget. Thank you! Sangita dd(16),dd(14),dd(11),ds(8)
  20. I'm in the process of looking for an online Spanish I class for my dd (9th grader) next fall. We are looking into The Potters School, but the times just aren't working for dd's schedule. Can you tell me a little more about the La Clase Divertida hs class and why you like it? Pros/Cons? Did your dc get a good amount of conversation time? Do they turn in homework, writing, are there tests, or semester exams? Do you find it rigorous and your dc retaining? The text seems very high cost ($172) especially if you don't go on to use their Spanish level 2 or 3. Do you know anywhere to purchase it cheaper? Thanks so much for responding, Sangita
