  9. I am still trying to catch up on my City of God book group. I fell 2 chapters behind because I was studying for a final I mistakenly thought I had another week to study for! And for this upcoming week we had to read 2 instead of just 1 chapter! I have to read something like 300 pages by Thursday. I finished The 101 Dalmatians which I enjoyed. That was my first April is Children's Literature month challenge. I also started reading a book called Particles of Faith which is very interesting. The author has a PhD in nanochemistry and a masters in Catholic theology. It's sort of a memoir of how she handles the tension between science and faith. Very thoughtful and informed.
  10. Checking in here. I'm in throes of cleaning out my horrible, disgusting, no good, very bad mud room. The kitty litter pan is kept in there and boy is the whole area overdue for a deep cleaning. Whew! I am disgusted with myself for letting things get so disgusting! I really do hate housework. I just do.
  11. Did I forget to post yesterday? I had to get up super early to get dd to her weekend trip to New York with the theater group from a nearby high school. She got to have a choreography workshop with one of the Hamilton orginal cast! She comes back late Sunday night. Then I I took ds and 2 other guys plus houseguest and baby on a field trip. Son and friends went to tour capitol with fellow government co-op classmates and houseguest and baby and I toured art museums. Fun but tiring day! Today: Read City of God (already read for 30 minutes but boy am I way behind!) Get bagels take 18 to flute lesson - read more Someone needs to take houseguest and baby to Target so she can use her gift card and get that baby some new shoes! Also, library books are due I really, really, really want to start spring cleaning today. I keep making false starts. Now is the time! Dinner? no clue yet

  14. I was going to get up early to make dinner for a friend whose dh is ill, so that I could bring it with me when I take dd to her math tutor, but I decided I'll just do the extra driving. Anyway! To do: Take dd to math Read City of God Walk drop dd off at study group mobile vet is coming today between 1:30-2:30 make meatloaf, potatoes and veggies p/u dd take food to friend Dinner for us???? Oops! Forgot also have to cook chicken for shelter! LOL. Too much cooking today!
  15. My dd is done with Latin! She wants to take American Sign Language next year (11th grade). We looked into the community college, but the only class is offered at a campus rather far away. She was hoping to take it with a friend but it turns out the friend can't make the same class as her schedule will allow. So now I'm thinking, why go through the rigamarole of getting her dual enrolled and doing all that driving, if she can just take an ASL class on line? I looked at Gallaudet but it is college level and seems like it would be super intense. Any recommendations? Thank you!

First time this year!
  19. I feel such a sense of relief today. I took my Latin final last night. Now I no longer have to deal with on line classes for myself. Hooray! Also, I thought I was going to attend a certamen today but it got cancelled (long story) and I also was going to attend a baby shower, but I wound up saying I couldn't go because of the certamen which is now cancelled. Though part of me would like to go, another part of me is sick of driving (shower is 40 minutes away) and would like to have a quiet, puttering around the house sort of weekend. . . Today: bagels tidy up (spring cleaning is due) take a walk (maybe with dh?) Maybe go shopping and to the library maybe read and nap? Maybe relax with dh who has had a really exhausting several weeks at work but now has a well needed lull in franticness.

  21. I am taking a break from studying for my Latin exam which I am terrified of and have to take tomorrow. Also, I think one of my cats is sick and the toilet in the hall overflowed. Just letting you in on my emotional state right now..... Anyway, I've decided I can not continue to listen to H is for Hawk. I can't stand the overwrought, navel gazing exploitation of her father's death so she can talk about herself. I know it is a memoir but I just finished listening to Sidney Poitier's memoir and I never thought, what self-indulgent b*llsh*t. I think it might have been that Poitier actually had interesting things to say about his interesting life, whereas I feel like MacDonald is trying too hard to be deep and significant and she doesn't quite have it in her to be deep and significant. I am disappointed because I thought it sounded like it would be fascinating and absorbing instead of annoying.
  22. We have a pasty shop here that serves delicious pasties. They are treat we do for lunch once in a while. /http://www.purepasty.com/
