  1. I have kpop in general, but not many OST.  Honestly, I maybe have one on there?  In general the songs from shows don't end up making the cut - I like them on the show just fine, but they aren't what I want to listen to elsewhere.  My youtube playlist is here  if you want to look at it - it's really long.

I started listening and I can see why most drama songs don't make the cut, great playlist!

  2. Youtube has many of the drama songs (OST) with clips from dramas. Some of these are official ones and others are fan made. However, some of these clips may have spoilers so if you have not watched whole drama then be careful watching these. There are tons for Master's Sun and Lie to Me which I love on youtube as well as many others.

I have way too many youtube playlists! I love that while a lot of the OSTs have fun songs a lot also have a more classical style. I really like the Bad Guy and Queen Seonduk OSTs. Heirs had so many good kpop songs too.

  3. Empire of Gold was very well done, lots of strong acting. I watched it because Lee Yo Won was in it. It was fascinating to watch the family dynamics. I wasn't impressed with Go Soo's performance, but the drama was still very gripping.

Closeacademy, when I watched Queen Seonduk I so wished that it could have covered all of our school subjects! It was so hard to have to stop watching.

  4. Does anyone else have playlists with drama songs, not just rap? ;) Even my kids are getting into it :)  I started watching Emergency Couple and it is really good.  I'm also watching a currently airing drama, Fall In Love With Me, which I swore I would never do, but it is really good.  The last episode airs on Sunday with the translation available Monday.  I'm torn between relief at finding out how it ends and not wanting it to end, lol!  I hate not being able to choose how much of it I watch.

  5. I will warn you that the first 30 minutes or so of Master's Sun can give one the wrong impression of Master's Sun being a horror show. It is not and I dislike most horror shows. I almost stopped watching it due to the first part but I am thrilled I persisted. There are ghosts in Master's Sun but they are all nice ghosts. The focus of the show is really romance with some action and comedy and mystery thrown in. You also see nice character development in the show.

Real horror scares me to death, but I also had no issue with Master's Sun. :)  I saw the ad for Always on dramafever too and am going to check it out.

  6. I am so glad you felt this way. I tried to encapsulate my teaching methods as an ongoing conversation with my children. If you felt that way, I guess I succeeded!

I actually had a tri-fold objective: 1-obviously teach children solid writing skills, 2-provide parents with background knowledge on topics they might lack knowledge in how to address, and 3-teach a methodology course via teaching children.

    How did I do?

ETA: I tried to provide thorough explanations for concepts. Parents should not feel "unqualified" to teach writing and grammar b/c all of the instruction and explanations are incorporated in the book.

I also felt like a fly on the wall. Your posts describing how you teach writing at this stage really make sense now.

  7. Angel Eyes is a melodrama. The genre is different so the ending doesn't have that satisfactory feel to it. Koreans love tragedy and suffering!

The first drama I watched was Queen Seonduk which was epic in every way.  Unfortunately, that included an epically tragic ending!  Then I watched Bad Guy.  Ooh, I hate those writers.  They made me think it was all going to be resolved happily and then they killed the guy in the last 5 minutes.  I will never forgive them, lol!

  8. I'm already married to a hot Latin man so the flower boys just make me laugh :) I love Kim Tan's pink fuzzy cardigan in Heirs, lol! I figure they must be really good actors if even I want the girl to fall in love with their character.

Moon, Google tells me that Korean culture is very conservative about what is acceptable affection in public. Is that true?

  9. I'm in the middle of 'My Girlfriend is a Nine Tailed Fox' and I like it so far. She cracks me up.

I love her super fast life plan, lol! And I will never forget how to say meat in Korean after that drama. I like the scene where the kids say, "Daddy, buy meat!" over and over.

I don't think I've seen Flower Boy Next Door mentioned. It has Park Shin Hye and my favorite way for the couple to meet. I won't give it away, but it is hysterical!

  10. Finished reading through, love it! We did MCT Island last year and part one of TC is review. I'll be showing dd9 TC and discussing doing it as written and dropping ELTL or having me incorporate the TC conversations and style with ELTL and our history and science reading. I liked part 1 a lot, but parts 2 and 3 are going to be so helpful to me. Everything is so spelled out with lots of examples. I love that all of the stories are compiled in the back. That will be very handy when choosing new examples to see where we have been length and complexity wise. OT, I wish Dancing Bears would publish the stories as a separate book so we could reread them without flipping through the rest of the pages.

  11. I had two main writing streams for my upcoming third grader's year. First we are going to use ELTL for narration, copywork and dictation. And I was going to teach paragraph writing by integrating it into our other subjects and notebooking (this part I was just going to wing). Now I'm thinking TC might give me the tools and structure to do a better job of teaching paragraph writing, so that we can integrate it across the subject areas.

My oldest is using ELTL and really likes it.  It has inspired her to write all sorts of things whereas before she seemed dormant about expressing herself in writing.  I don't want to drop it so I may use TC as more of the how to guide to write for science and history as I want to teach paragraph, report style writing in the content areas anyway.  We'll see when I look at TC tomorrow and see how it goes with dd.  The page where the purchase buttons will be added is up :)

  12. I can and will use this program with my 9-year old this year (and again with my youngest in a few years), but even if I had no use for it, I'd buy it anyway. I've learned so much from you, 8, over the years that I feel like a $30 'tip' has absolutely been well-earned. Thank you for your years of hard work and the willingness to share your wisdom with the rest of us. I hope my girls possess a bit of your moxie as they mature into adulthood.

This x 1000!  I learn so much from your posts and those of other veterans on the board.  I doubt I could ever put a book out there with all the attendant issues as a fellow wallflower, but I am sure grateful that you are publishing it. :)
