I'm using it with my 6yo even though she doesn't "need" it. It is so efficient and easy to do. We are getting so much out of the time we are spending, whereas with OPGTR it was a lot of time for less results. I dropped the cursor early with her and she really doesn't need the phonogram cards anymore either.

Premio Lazarillo: http://www.oepli.org/pag/cas/lazarillo.php
These are Santillana's lists by grade level. They list which books are originally in Spanish and which are translations: http://www.santillanausa.com/catalogs/santillana-usa-k12-catalog/children-s-books-literature/literary-and-informational-text-libraries.html?SID=h47966f0bktvcifc1l3knfiaj2
Celeste 101, thanks for the other lists!
If you search Barco de Vapor on Amazon a ton of results come up. Each book is assigned a color to tell which level it is.

Alright, the Sorcerers Stone will be out in December. The plan is to publish the rest of them every 4-5 weeks. They will be pdf work texts. I'll also publish the guide I wrote for The Giver by Lois Lowery and Anthem by Ayn Rand. Its aimed at 6-8Th graders. It compares the two books and is a gentle intro to Rand.
Awesome!

Hugs to the burn and water victims!
I had to cut off part of the ham to fit it in the crockpot but it should be ok. My plan was to prep that yesterday and not the day of. :)

We have a projector that we can connect to a computer or ipad. We bought the projector used and then dh bought the corresponding ipad connector. Like another poster mentioned we just use a large living room wall. We take down the artwork and close the curtains. This is easy to do and leaves the room looking normal if the projector is put away.

My 9yo is mathy, but now that we are up to 5 numbers and so many operations to choose from she is having a hard time. She still works on it for about 10 minutes and then I go over the solutions with her. I'm hoping this will help her to come up with her own in the future. I will be interested to see other replies as well.

I'm on my second time through Dancing Bears with dd2 and we all love the crazy stories! I look forward to dd3 reading them in the future.

Pong seems to mean "to stink" based on other sentences in Apples & Pears and Dancing Bears. We have also seen several references to drinking ale and beer. We are a family that does not drink at all so I have just discussed the reasons we don't with my kids. I explain to them that other people do and it hasn't been a problem. Overall the percentage of sentences like this has been very low.

I've had that happen too and loved it!

Anyone remember City of Angels where the angels hang out at the library? My hobby is the library too, lol! Our county system has a ton of TC courses. I'm listening to my first set and am totally in love.

I am interested in making laundry soap and checked out the recipe you posted. Sounds easy enough but it doesn't list how much of the soap you use per load..?
This post says 2 Tablespoons per load. :)

I make laundry detergent. It's super easy and works great. Here's the recipe (at the bottom of the post in the cost breakdown). http://thefamilywho.wordpress.com/2014/03/10/laundry-detergent/ My friend who gave me the recipe adds a 55oz bottle of Purex Crystals fabric softener to hers. My husband doesn't like scents so requested I not use it the second time I made a batch. I can honestly say it didn't change anything in how our clothes smell after being dried and how clean they get or how they feel by leaving it out. I've been making a tick mark on a piece of paper for every load of laundry I do. So far we are up to 175 loads and have more than half of the batch left. I spent $20.20 to make the detergent. I was paying $5-6 on sale to get a bottle of detergent that lasted 40-50 loads. I've already about broken even halfway through. (I have a high efficiency washing machine. My recipe works for standard or HE machines.)
What kind of water do you and your friend have? We have hard water and another recipe I tried didn't work well. But it had fewer ingredients and no Oxyclean so I am considering the one you posted as it looks better. :)

Depending on which carrier you are with there is probably a cheaper company where you could use the phones you already have as well as buying new ones. We have Sprint iphones and transferred to Ting when our contract with Sprint was up. Our bill is less than half what it used to be! Other carriers that I looked into were Boost Mobile, StraightTalk, Republic Wireless and Virgin Mobile. Ting was the only one that could use a Sprint iphone. You can get unlocked phones or phones for a specific carrier on many websites.

I'm good at reading about science, having dd9 read about science, watching documentaries together and discussing science topics. I would really like to have some hands on activities that are enjoyable and educational, but I am terrible at getting that sort of thing done!
Something that works is DH doing projects from a snap circuits kit and Engino simple machines kit with the kids and then I do fine discussing and reading from the project notes. Other materials don't get used because they are not in a super convenient, self contained box with simple instructions. :)
So I was thinking about Science in a Nutshell kits or something else that dd9 could do mostly one her own. Are TOPS projects teacher intensive? Any other suggestions for middle school level activities that would fit this criteria? I will be hoping for a fun, educational class in our area for next year.

We use a similar program and really enjoy it. We choose all materials and how they are implemented. It doesn't change what we do at home except that I mark attendance and give a general overview of what we do. I can withdraw at any time. The money is very nice and certainly worth the minimal extra time I spend to get it.

Our bill is HALF what it used to be with Sprint! :hurray: DH's was more because he can't use the wifi at work so he used more cellular data, but my bill was only $16.

Yes, that is Portuguese. :) The website ends in br which is the web abbreviation for Brazil.

Congratulations!!! :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: :hurray:

My oldest daughter loved reading the other stories too. She didn't want to be the first one to post and was glad to hear that other people, including the Bushy story author, liked her ending. :)

Ooh, this looks so neat! Are you still planning to write a fourth volume of the History of the World series?

Mine came yesterday too. My life is complete, the nagging emptiness is gone! :)

Seem to be in stock again.
And: there must be a lot of people clicking through to the listing, the tracking software that runs the adds on the forum has picked up on it. I just came to the site and before signing in there were adds for the desk apprentice both at the top and aide of the WTM forum front page :D
I need a commission!!!

Do you have a link for being exempt from FICA withholding when not owing income tax for a period of time? I googled for more info, but only found links about students working at their school etc.
