Has anyone seen this? Thoughts?

:lurk5:
I like the look of the primers and were considering them for ds, but the religious content keeps me from purchasing them.

I loved Julius Caesar during my freshman year of high school and wished we had read it during middle school.

But, Wow some of the other apps available on Ipad just blow my mind and are WAY better than a paper magazine or book any day.
Some specifics:
National Geographic
Science 360
Planets
NOVA Elements
Totally.
As far as reading goes, my kids get real books. The Ipad is mine - they get to borrow it for educational games/downtime/quiet time while I'm working with the other child.Ha! Here too!

To me, it's one more tool we have in our school. It has it's usefulness but one does not supersede the other.

I recently purchased a copy of Check the Deck for my 3rd grader. We're currently on an extended spring break due to an unforeseen circumstance, so we will probably start it next week. I looked through it and it seems like something my dd will like and will aide her in honing her writing skills.

:iagree:
My suggestions were already mentioned - MM, MEP, and LoF.
-
Hmm, I picked it up for $0.45 along with the combo for the months. The months seem fine, but I haven't had a chance to look at the history ones. :tongue_smilie:

I know nothing about VP, but why not use CHOLL grammar since you're planning to use it with your older children?

A couple pricier options:
Membership at a local science museum
Microscope to last you through your homeschool journey
Erica in OR
Along with the membership idea, I'd also opt for one to the zoo and the art museum.

No Way! Arguing with pregnant women is a bad idea. Offer her a nice chilled pewter mug full of lemonade and pass the bean dip!
I don't doubt older wisdom, but unless the microwave has a dial or is obviously leaking radiation, it's silly.

I asked this not too long ago and that was the general consensus I got as well. The only thing we haven't worked to much on is dictation. I'm really enjoying her schedule and so is dd.

The grade designations on the Heinemann site are also throwing me. While SG seems like the gentler intro, it's listed for gr. 2-6 while SC is listed for K-5.
-
What's the difference between these two? I have Sentence Composing but comparing it online to Story Grammar, it seems like SG is an updated revision of SC. Is that about right or is there something I'm missing?
-
I found the TM for Story Grammar but not for the Elementary Sentences Composing. Do you have a link?:)

I am a youth services librarian at a public library. Dh is an unintentional SAHD looking to get back into warehouse work. I have a BA in History, Medieval Studies and an MLIS.

Not picture books, but beautiful all the same and maybe at your local library:

Thank you all. And I sense double-foruming is going to become a new phrase.
Farrar, your blog post was exactly the information I was seeking. To make a simple comparison, the format of BW seems like The Complete Writer in that there is the presentation of the philosophy and then a kind of guide to set up how to implement it with the student. Or one could opt for the workbook/ monthly guides in addition to or in lieu of creating their own materials (ie, the WWE workbooks vs utilizing the guides The Wand, The Arrow, etc.) Does that sound about right (or should I say write? :tongue_smilie:)
I may be wrong, but this doesn't strike me as the kind of item we need just yet. Your suggestion (in your blog) for Evan Moor or WWW is probably what I'm looking more towards for now. This has been very insightful and helpful.

I'm just curious why people chooses it over other writing programs.

:bigear: One last bump for ny other input.

Our ped had no problem with it and his office was familiar with my mw.

:bigear: Anyone else?
How do you know if you have a natural speller?
in K-8 Curriculum Board
Posted
I see the terms natural and non-natural speller used in reference to different spelling curricula. How do you know which one your child is?
