Ooo... Dd might respond better to this for extra practice instead of KISS.
-
We pretty much keep chugging along. We're coming up on the halfway point of our year. Just activities for dd change. She'd like totry judo and fencing with her brother to take a break from ballet and Pilates.
-
When the lessons are more than 2 pages, we break it up. But ds does 2 pages a day.
:iagree: We do about 2-3 pages per day, depending on the lesson and number of problems on the page. I usually have the monkeys only do MM about 3/ week. The other 2 days we will do other things like Challenge math or LoF.
-
We're coming up on our half year point. I work about 3-4 days out of the house, so some of this is independent work for when dh is in charge of the monkeys.
Math-

Intellego Science: Finishing up weather and then we'll move into astronomy

I saw that on their site as well. Just looking for other families' experiences as I didn't see too many reviews out there.

:lurk5:
I see they are now on their 3rd edition. I am also curious about their curriculum.

I forgot to print out a sheet for one of my children one day, so I had him do it on our iPad via Notability. However I had the teacher lesson plan already printed out. Maybe you could put the lesson plan on the nook and have your child use the iPad?

I believe the cheapest I've paid was during the Currclick Winter Sale. Otherwise, HSBC is the best option.

Download the Word doc to your computer, open up in Word, Save as a PDF (I use CutePDF, which is free - you just "print to PDF" instead of saving as, technically... it installs as a printer). Then put the PDF on your tablet and use a PDF annotating app. On my Android tablet, I use ezPDF. It was $2.99 and worth every penny. We just click a button, then start drawing our underlines and finger writing our labels above words. Very easy to do, and my son loves it!
There are several iPad apps available to annotate also, and I know there have been whole threads on those, so it should be easy to find. :)
:iagree: I use the app Notability on my iPad which allows dd to mark up the exercises.

We like HTTS. For the why you can see a review I posted on my blog: http://dougcarla.wordpress.com/2012/02/07/how-to-teach-spelling-review/
Thank you for this! I have workbook 2 for dd but I'm really glad I just ordered workbook 1 for ds. I've read the TM, but I need a bit more direction for each grade.

KISS Grammar
We use it on the tablet. The sentences are from real literature, so you actually have to think. It moves quickly enough for my accelerated learner for whom grammar comes easily. This child probably would have been fine waiting until whatever age JAG starts though.
:iagree: We just started doing this!

Evening bump. :)
-
:lurk5: Bumping.

I think it does get much better and is definitely a worth while read! But, if it doesn't seem age appropriate, come back to it later (but don't miss it!).
:iagree: I read it in 4th grade for an extended book report and enjoyed it.

I'd like to create a set of flashcards to use with How To Teach Spelling. I know there are a few apps out there that will allow me to do this for the iPad. Does anyone have one they especially like?
-
I'm considering Evan-Moor Super Sentences, but I might try BW just to calm my curiosity.
-
I purchased it but we've only recently started with Alice, so I don't have a lot of insight yet. So far, dd is enjoying it.
-
I really enjoyed listening to The Tolkien Professor. I thought they were very thoughtful lectures that helped me enjoy the craft behind the books a little more.
That one sounds interesting! I'll have to look it up.
So far I've downloaded two- one on medieval history (personal love) and one on cosmology.
-
Just wondering if anyone utilizes this to refresh their knowledge, expand their learning or just take an open university course to prep before teaching their children.
-
I'll have to save this for when we get to SOTW2. :)

It looks that way:
Although it's a bit confusing to me when above that, under the header of how it works it she says:Brave Writer has embarked on a brand new category of products: Language Arts Plans combined with 10 Monthly Writing Projects.- Jot It Down! (K-1st)
- Partnership Writing (2nd-3rd)
- Faltering Ownership (4th-6th)
- Transition to Ownership (7th-8th)
- The Great Conversation Vol. 1 (9th-10th)
- The Great Conversation Vol. 2 (11th - 12th)
The Wand is designated as K-2 and The Arrow, gr 3-6. :001_huh:-
The Writer’s Jungle provides you with the essential tools that enable you to be an effective writing coach and ally to your kids. It’s the must have tool for teaching the writing process (original writing). Buy this first.
-
The Wand or The Arrow (depending on the age of your child) is the tool that complements The Writer’s Jungle by teaching the mechanics of writing using quality literature. Select one.
-
Jot It Down! is the product that gives you a practical routine (think, schedule ala Brave Writer) and 10 month-long writing projects (assignments). Buy this next!
- Jot It Down! (K-1st)
Are you prepared for death?

Pretty much what the header asks. Do you have a will or/ and living will? Have you made plans on your funeral?
ETA: The poll is not set to private. I'm sorry about that. It was my first poll and I didn't realize it was set on public.
