  1. When the lessons are more than 2 pages, we break it up. But ds does 2 pages a day.

:iagree: We do about 2-3 pages per day, depending on the lesson and number of problems on the page. I usually have the monkeys only do MM about 3/ week. The other 2 days we will do other things like Challenge math or LoF.

  2. We're coming up on our half year point. I work about 3-4 days out of the house, so some of this is independent work for when dh is in charge of the monkeys.

    Math-

Spine= Math Mammoth: currently 1b. He'll probably move into 2A by late summer.

Supplements: MEP, Zacarro, LoF: Butterflies, living math books

    Spelling Workout A

    How to Teach Spelling 1

    McGuffey Eclectic Reader

SOTW Lapbook - I'm using CHOLL, Ancients with dd and he's tagging along with this because he doesn't like the activities in CHOLL.

    Judo

    Fencing

  3. I forgot to print out a sheet for one of my children one day, so I had him do it on our iPad via Notability. However I had the teacher lesson plan already printed out. Maybe you could put the lesson plan on the nook and have your child use the iPad?

  4. Download the Word doc to your computer, open up in Word, Save as a PDF (I use CutePDF, which is free - you just "print to PDF" instead of saving as, technically... it installs as a printer). Then put the PDF on your tablet and use a PDF annotating app. On my Android tablet, I use ezPDF. It was $2.99 and worth every penny. We just click a button, then start drawing our underlines and finger writing our labels above words. Very easy to do, and my son loves it!

There are several iPad apps available to annotate also, and I know there have been whole threads on those, so it should be easy to find. :)

:iagree: I use the app Notability on my iPad which allows dd to mark up the exercises.

  5. I think it does get much better and is definitely a worth while read! But, if it doesn't seem age appropriate, come back to it later (but don't miss it!).

:iagree: I read it in 4th grade for an extended book report and enjoyed it.

  6. We mostly go year round, so I'm assuming that by next year you mean this fall.

  7. I really enjoyed listening to The Tolkien Professor. I thought they were very thoughtful lectures that helped me enjoy the craft behind the books a little more.

That one sounds interesting! I'll have to look it up.

So far I've downloaded two- one on medieval history (personal love) and one on cosmology.

  8. It looks that way:

Brave Writer has embarked on a brand new category of products: Language Arts Plans combined with 10 Monthly Writing Projects.

    • Jot It Down! (K-1st)
    • Partnership Writing (2nd-3rd)
    • Faltering Ownership (4th-6th)
    • Transition to Ownership (7th-8th)
    • The Great Conversation Vol. 1 (9th-10th)
    • The Great Conversation Vol. 2 (11th - 12th)

Although it's a bit confusing to me when above that, under the header of how it works it she says:

    1. The Writer’s Jungle provides you with the essential tools that enable you to be an effective writing coach and ally to your kids. It’s the must have tool for teaching the writing process (original writing). Buy this first.
    2. The Wand or The Arrow (depending on the age of your child) is the tool that complements The Writer’s Jungle by teaching the mechanics of writing using quality literature. Select one.
    3. Jot It Down! is the product that gives you a practical routine (think, schedule ala Brave Writer) and 10 month-long writing projects (assignments). Buy this next!

The Wand is designated as K-2 and The Arrow, gr 3-6. :001_huh:
