  1. Thank you all so much. This has given me lots of options to think about. I don't have the wall space and am trying to get rid of extra clutter. I'm hoping to be able to get AAS for my oldest and AAR for my middle. I think they would be great but have to afford it. Love the ideas. Keep them coming.
  2. True about the velcro noise. Also the magnets would allow use of a small pan. Hmmmm, things to ponder. Thank you.
  3. Thanks. That helps. The one I remember used blue folders. Would you still get the same results using the folder instead of the board? We already have a whiteboard up but it's not magnetic. Also, I wonder about using velcro insread of magnets. Then maybe putting a large velcro in the center to build on.
  4. I saw a blog somewhere that had the AAS tiles in a file folder system they put together instead of the white board. I didn't bookmark it. Ugh. Do you know where it was? Thanks.
  5. Is there a list somewhere of all cursive programs - whether independent or part of another program? With a sick baby, I don't have time to search all over. Or can you list for me the ones you know of? I'm trying to compare the fonts to teach DS but I need a somewhat guided approach. I don't want to have to create my own worksheets, etc. Thanks.
  6. How does the download work - if I download it on this computer but we end up getting a new computer, will I still have access or is it gone?
  7. I"m interested too. We have some Sugar Creek Gang. 2 of our boys share a room and the older on loves to listen to them while laying in bed but some scare the younger one. (I haven't figured out why though because he'll listen to them at other times and love them. Maybe he's just being stubborn at night. LOL)
  8. Yep, it's review. We just skipped it and went straight to 202.
  9. Great. I called this morning and the lady I talked to had no idea what I was talking about. Hopefully he is more knowledgeable.
  10. CBD has it and so does Rainbow Resource. I *think* CBD is the best price but not sure of their shipping. But I noticed it was on backorder until Aug.
  11. I have been looking at Beautiful Feet and Truthquest for American History for 1st grade next year. Are there any others I should look into?
  12. DS1 has learned to write using the ball and stick method. We are just finishing K and that was the method used in the curric we have. He was having trouble remembering "b" and "d" so I taught him to write them each in a single stroke (pencil not leaving the paper). He does so much better now at remembering them and they look so much better. I'd like to look at a handwriting font that teaches that way - I know at one time I read about one but I can't remember what it was or where I read it. Any help?
  13. DS wants to learn all about animals next year - 1st grade. Looking for a Christian, easy to do, curriculum. Or how to put together my own - book rec's, etc. Science is not my strong point. I don't want a lot of in depth, hard experiments. Notebooking/journaling is *not* our thing. Activity pages are ok. I definitely want a Christian perspective. Any help is appreciated.
  14. I am sorry that my thread has caused some emotions. I guess I didn't express well enough what I was looking for. I know every curric will be different for every child. I was looking more for any "surface" dislikes - something about the TM layout or scripting, lack of pictures to depict addition/subtraction problems, etc. But I have definitely learned some new terminology that I will have to look up. For instance, I've heard of conceptual math but what does it really mean? More reading to do, I guess!
  15. :001_smile: It's ok. Thank you though. It's been an interesting thread for sure. I never meant to start "drama". I am just really worried about getting DS started off on the right foot. I'm so afraid I will choose one curric and then find out later on I should have used another. KWIM?
  16. I am looking at CLE Math for 1st grade next year. Right now it's my top pick (with R&S close behind). With all the great reviews, I just wonder if there is anyone who didn't like it. If so, why?
  17. We are thinking of something along these lines too. Haven't decided yet though.
  18. Are the Teacher's Guide necessary or can we get by without them? What about the Children's CD? My boys are 6 & 3. Will the cd help?
